A crackin' good construction party

Tonka Trucks, hammers and some good old fashioned playtime in the dirt combine to make a birthday party to remember.

Sarah, the creative genius behind Princess Allure Jewellery and Accessories and Boutique Events created this gorgeous construction themed party for her son Olando's 3rd birthday party.

Like most little boys, Olando is fascinated by tractors, diggers, dirt and building things, so this party was a perfect fit.

The day was planned to be outdoors, however, torrential rain forced the party inside – even the mini jumping castle was relocated indoors!

For the decorations Sarah chose a colour scheme of orange, yellow and blue and used a combination of construction tape, witches hats and balloons.

Outside the guests were greeted with a display of caution tape, witches hats and a sign that said ‘Party Zone’.

Sarah arranged many of the food choices in individual cups so that the adults could also eat the food free of worry that ‘little fingers’ had not been there first.

To tie the whole look together Sarah used a printable that she bought off Etsy to create a personalised party invitation that matched her colour scheme perfectly and allowed her to incorporate a gorgeous photo of the birthday boy. This printable was featured on the food table, the favour bags and signs around the room.

The party-food table displayed a mix of sweet and savoury. Sarah arranged many of the food choices in individual cups so that the adults could also eat the food free of worry that ‘little fingers’ had not been there first.

The focal point of the table was a chocolate cake that she made, featuring a little digger and cascading choc honeycomb to represent ‘rocks’.

For lunch Sarah put the kids’ construction skills to good use at the ‘Build a Sandwich’ station, where guests were able to construct their own sandwich from a selection of fillings.

The guests had fun jumping on the castle, ‘building’ towers out of cardboard boxes and playing with toy tools.

To top it all off the children took home a little party favour bag filled with a construction toy, balloon, and a couple of treats.

While torrential rain may have forced this party indoors we think it looks amazing! The perfect party theme for any little boy who loves to get his hands dirty.
