WHAT could be better than tea for two on Sydney Harbour? Try a series of free tea parties for 6000 children and their families on Goat Island.
The Kids' Crazy Island Tea Party, part of the Crave Sydney International Food Festival, will give children the chance to decorate their own cupcakes at the Sparkle Cupcakery stand, and attend a teddy bear's picnic with live music.
There will be a pirate's hideaway cave and an enchanted tea party with giant rabbits and cherry blossoms.
Sandra Chipchase, chief executive of Destination NSW, said the Kids' Crazy Island Tea Party would let families make the most of the month-long Crave Sydney International Food Festival, which launches on October 1 with the World Chef Showcase at the Sydney Hilton. The Kids' Crazy Island Tea Party will be held on the weekends of October 15-16, 22-23 and 29-30.
The event is free but there are only 6000 tickets, which are available by registering on the website: cravesydney.com.
A free ferry will transport families from the Man O'War Steps at the Sydney Opera House to Goat Island.
The full festival program is available to download from the website.
