Parents create hilarious life size Elf on the Shelf

Tired of seeing pictures of their friends' Elf on the Shelf on Facebook, this family decided to go one better and create their own version.

Canadian couple Joe and Megan Wynberg have uploaded hilarious pictures of Joe, dressed as an elf posing in various positions around the house on social media.

"So we finally caved and decided to do the "Elf on the Shelf" thing. The kids are going to be so surprised! We named our elf FLE and he will be in some pretty precarious spots over the next 24 days! Enjoy," Megan wrote on her Facebook page.

Starting in 2005, Elf of the Shelf has become a popular tradition amongst families at Christmas time. Leading up to Christmas, parents purchase an elf to hide in the house, each night moving it to a different spot for the children to find. The idea is that the Elf will report back to Santa telling him if the children have been naughty or nice.

"We thought, 'Wouldn't it be funny if we did a human Elf on the Shelf?' Joe told Buzzfeed Canada. "It kind of took off from there."
