Brad Pitt is using a cane after injuring his leg while protecting his daughter from a fall.
The Ocean's Eleven star has limped along the red carpet with a cane at California's Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala, where he picked up a top prize on the weekend.
His partner Angelina Jolie has revealed Pitt twisted his knee and suffered some ligament damage while rescuing his daughter on a family ski vacation.
As they walked the red carpet, Jolie said Pitt had been holding their three-year-old daughter Vivienne when the pair tumbled over on the slopes.
She said Pitt injured himself as he tried to make sure Vivienne wasn't hurt.
Jolie insisted that Pitt is healing well.
"Everything becomes such a huge thing doesn't it? Vivi's okay. She was absolutely fine. He took the fall. It was just to make sure," Angelina told the US edition of OK! magazine.
"When Maddox was younger, I took a fall and cracked my elbow because I wanted to make sure he wasn't injured" she added.

The 36-year-old beauty also revealed the injured Pitt is still helping out with household chores and looking after their six children.
"He does everything still," she explained when asked if he was relying on her to run the house.
