Michelle Williams proudly holds her Golden Globe award in dedication to her daughter.
Michelle Williams dedicates her Golden Globe win to her daughter in a heartfelt acceptance speech.
The 31-year-old actress and single mother shared her admiration for her six-year-old daughter, Matilda, with the crowd.
“I consider myself a mother first and an actress second, and so the person I most want to thank is my daughter, my little girl, whose bravery and exuberance is the example that I take with me in my work and in my life.”
Williams was honored for her role in My Week with Marilyn, taking home the award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical.
The actress revealed that it is the love and support of her daughter, from her relationship with the late Heath Ledger, which has helped her to succeed.
“I want to say thank you for sending me off to this job everyday with a hug and a kiss, I couldn’t have done it otherwise.”
Matilda also helped her mother prepare for the role by listening to her bedtime stories in Williams’ best husky Marilyn Monroe voice.
The Golden Globe winner joins a long list of actresses honoured over the years, including her subject Marilyn Monroe, who stood on the very same stage 52-years before her to accept the same award.
