Lots of us like to sing – and some of us are so bad at it our children beg us to stop – but others seem to have the music living inside them, just bursting to break free.
Six-year-old Loren Patterson is one such person.
The joyful spirit of Loren singing in her church choir has touched people all over the world, as she rocks out to a gospel song as the choir sings back up.
Loren's mum Jennifer shared the video on Facebook of her daughter singing with the First Baptist Church children's choir in Dickson, Tennessee. "Loren singing in the choir this morning," she wrote. "In case you can't find her she's the one in pink and brown."
The video has been viewed more than 36 million times, and shared over half a million times, with comments flooding in about the joy Loren has brought to viewers.
In the clip, Loren shimmies and grooves to "Old Church Choir" by Zach Williams in front of a crowd of 2000, even when the children's choir is completely silent.
Jennifer told Today it was Loren's first time singing in front of such a large crowd, and she was unaware of what was happening because she was standing behind the children's choir in the adult choir.
"I noticed some people making faces and something like that, and my husband was in the audience," said Jennifer. So I saw him laughing and I didn't know why, so I just continued singing and I didn't know what was going on."
Jennifer only found out later that Loren had stolen the show, when another member of the congregation sent her the video.
She says Loren and her three-year-old sister are always "singing around the house".
"Around here she sings all the time, she's always dancing around, she makes up her own songs about Jesus," said Jennifer. "That's just her personality; she's so bubbly and she's been that way all her life."
Jennifer said she's been touched by the stories of people who have reached out to her from all over the world.
"I've had a lot of stories, she said. "Different people dealing with cancer or hard times, people losing their parents recently."
Jennifer was also contacted by a mother who lost her 13-year-old son in September, who told her watching Loren's video was the first time she had smiled since he had died.
"That touched me as a mum, of course," she said.
