Well, this is a career path we hadn't previously considered (but we are now).

Kim Sung Jin is a 14-year-old from Seoul, South Korea, who eats live on webcam every night for paying customers.

His meals include fried chicken, pizza, and Chinese food, The Independent reports, and each episode attracts hundreds, sometimes thousands, of viewers.

Kim is known to his viewers as Patoo, and he made 2 million won (AU$2306) with his most popular episode.

He uses the live-broadcasting app Afreeca TV, where users who share their meal times are among the most popular, The Independent says.

The genre is called "Meok Bang", which is a portmanteau of the Korean words for broadcast and eating.

It's become an internet subculture in South Korea, key to the social lives of many teenagers who meet up online to chat and have dinner.

Kim mostly lives the life of a normal schoolboy, living with his grandparents, but says "people say hello to me on the street".
