Most parents can identify with the challenges of providing a nutritious diet for kids. Day in, day out, three meals a day plus snacks, so discount supermarket ALDI has come up with the perfect menu for active kids.
Partnering with head chef and nutritionist of the Socceroos, the ALDI MiniRoos Mighty Menu certainly covers all nutritional bases. Bircher muesli Mondays, home-made sports drinks and hand-crafted desserts sure sound like a kid's dream, although many time-poor parents may struggle to adhere strictly to the schedule.
Speaking to Essential Kids Capovilla said, "It can seem like a difficult task to prepare food with the right balance of micro and macro nutrients. This is why we've created the menu; to give parents peace of mind."
"Another misconception is that healthy food and fresh ingredients come with a hefty price. In fact, everything on the menu has been prepared using ALDI products," which keeps the grocery bill down.
Former Socceroo and dad of two Archie Thompson says the menu is achievable for families but admitted to Essential Kids, "While we aim to feed our kids healthy meals, sometimes it can be daunting to come up with recipes you know they will enjoy."
The menu aims to provide families with go-to recipes. But with so many parents under the pump, what are the best convenience foods on the run?
Capovilla says, "Seasonal fruits are the best grab-and-go convenience food as they provide good amounts of vitamins and fibre." In addition, "the Carrot Raisin Muffins and Date Nut Bread can be prepared over the weekend, ready for the kids' lunch boxes during the week.
