Family dinner planner: Week Two

There are few things that parents hate thinking about more than what to cook for dinner. Essential Kids is doing the thinking for you with our weekly dinner planner. Simply print out the list and stick it to the fridge and next time a family member asks “What’s for dinner?” you can point them in the direction of the fridge. These are our dinner winners this week.

You can see our other meal planners here.

Lamb shank and potato curry: A pot of hearty goodness. Is there anything better than a house filled with the sweet aroma of lamb and herbs cooking on the stove? Try this delicious meal and prepare to be satisfied.

Grilled snapper fillets with spiced sweet potato salad and yoghurt: Light and super-tasty, grilled snapper is ideal for getting in your weekly serving of fish. This fresh and filling meal will make it into your weekly meals on a regular basis after you try it.

Turkey schnitzel with potato and pea salad: If you're not keen on turkey, turn chicken breast fillets into crunchy golden schnitzels instead. This will fast become a family favourite.

Potato, pea and bacon frittata: Cook some potato and peas beforehand, and you can throw everything into the one pan to cook into a simple but satisfying frittata. Serve with a fresh tomato salad or strew with cherry tomatoes, quickly pan-fried until soft and juicy.

Tuna Meatballs: Fresh tuna makes lovely light ''meatballs'' for kids and grown-ups, pepped up with lemon zest and parmesan and cooked in a rich tomato sauce. Sure to be a hit.

Curried sweet potato soup: The air has turned cool and the leaves are falling. Soup weather has arrived and this one is a treat for the tastebuds. Orange-fleshed sweet potatoes have so much flavour that you can make this soup with boiling water rather than stock.

Soda bread and lamb-neck stew: Soda bread is one of the easiest breads to make and it looks and tastes fantastic. Stews and warm bread are two of the best things about the cooler months.
