A mother from Rhodes Island has drawn quotes from feminists on her daughter's lunch napkins, following the result of the US presidential election.
Meaghan Elderkin is the mother of two girls , Holden, 9, and Elsa, 2.
Elderkin first started drawing on her older daughter's lunch napkin when Holden, now a fourth-grader, was in preschool
"My mother used to draw on my lunch napkins, so drawing for my own daughters' was a no-brainer," Elderkin told Scary Mommy.
Previously, Elderkin's drawings were of animals with clever names, such as a cow called Moo-na Lisa, a koala named Frida Koala, a bee named Susan Bee Anthony, and a skunk named Stink Floyd.
However, following the unexpected election of Donald Trump, Elderkin decided that she needed to put the values that she had been teaching her daughters onto paper.
"[I] figured this week she could use a reminder of how strong and brave she is," Elderkin told Scary Mommy.
Elderkin also decided others could use some motivation and posted images of the napkins to pro-Hilary Facebook group, Pantsuit Nation.
The post received thousands of comments from other members who thanked her for posting the pictures (and her obvious talent at drawing of course).
Elderkin admitted the response took her by surprise, "This has been overwhelming. I didn't expect this reaction. I just enjoy drawing them for my girls and snap the photos with my cell phone."
But it turns out they aren't her only fans, with Elderkin admitting that she discovered her older child used to trade the napkins to her school friends for "better snacks".
That is until last year when Holden, with the help of her teacher, decided to collect all of the napkins to put them in a book and presented it to her her mother on the last day of school.
It really is the perfect way to slip a little bit of confidence and positive self-worth into her little girls' lives every day.
