Should start by saying I mc'd my last pregnancy so this time I am being super paranoid. I have had mild cramping over the short course of this pregnancy, and the last couple of days and particularly this morning the cramping has been akin to period pain cramps. I'm terrified.
I am on 1x crinone (progesterone) per day and so far my blood results have been good, but I can't help worrying.
I can't remember if I had cramping in the 1st trimester in my last pregnancy. I have phoned the fertility clinic and they've asked me to have another blood test Monday and if the cramping gets really bad to go to the emergency room.
Looking for some reassurance, or advice, or honesty

it's supposed to be normal (the uterus stretching, etc), and i know i've had the same thing all 3 pregnancies (i'm 7-ish weeks, and still getting cramps, and with DD/DS i had them up to 20 weeks), and they can be worrying (especially how strong they can be).
Nothing i can say will stop you worrying, though (i'm still stressing this pregnancy will end, and i've never had a miscarriage). All you can do is sit it out, and if they get too bad get emergency medical advice

Hi there, I am 5 weeks 2 days pregnant and I am also getting mild period type cramps. I have also had a miscarriage previously so I know how anxious and worrying this time is. But I do think they are fairly normal as long as they aren't servere and accompanied with heavy bleeding. I hope they settle soon so we can relax a bit and enjoy our pregnancies. Best of luck xx

I had period pain like cramping up until 7 weeks. Sometimes the cramps were really painful. We had a scan after a bleed at 6+4 and bub was perfectly ok, heart beating away.

Thankyou so much for your replies. I'm trying to tell myself that if it's going to happen it will happen and moping and stressing will only make it worse. Thanks again ladies, I really appreciate it

For me anyway there is a big difference between uterus stretching/cramping and miscarriage cramping. I found miscarriage cramping to be really uncomfortable and incredibly painful.
However can relate as last pregnancy ended in MC and now any niggle I get i'm nervous!
It's hard but try not to overthink everything, because then any little pain becomes unbearable as this is what we convince ourselves. Hopefully that makes sense.
Take care of yourself and your wee one!

I am now 6w3d and have also experienced period like cramping. We ended up going to ED last Sunday night to get it checked & I had a scan on Monday. All is well
If you are worried though I think it is definitely worth getting it checked out, I know I gave relaxed a lot more since the scan. All the best OP.

I can understand your concern, I was paranoid too. In my miscarriage bleeding began at the same time as cramping. With this pregnancy, I had some period type cramps or stretches occasionally but no spotting and things are going well. Wishing you all the best.

Oh I know all too well that worry duck-o-lah! As all PP's have said - cramping can be very normal.
My OB reassured me time after time, period pains are perfectly normal and OK. Bleeding is not (although it can be OK... IYKWIM). So, if it's just cramps, you should be fine. If you get any bleeding, get yourself checked out, if for nothing but peace of mind!
I've had cramping in all 4 pregnancies - with the natural miscarriage the bleeding started within an hour of the cramping. This pregnancy (all going well at 13weeks! yay!) I had a day or 2 where I considered taking some panadol because my lower back was quite uncomfortable...
Also, crinone can make you cramp as well. I was on crinone for 2 or my pregnancies (1 a day like you) and my clinic reassured me that cramps are a standard side effect of it.
At least your clinic is monitoring you closely. Are you having a dating/viability scan? If not, book one in! It's amazing the relief it can give you, even if only for a short time.
Try to rest as much as you can over the weekend, and I hope you get some more reassuring results on Monday.

I had a lot of cramping from when we got our BFP to about six and a half weeks or so. I was very worried at first but after speaking to my OB and other pregnant ladies I think it's pretty normal. The cramping would normally come twice a day for about five mins or so and never with blood. Hope all is OK for you and bubs.

I had cramps with my first pregnancy at 5 weeks, 8 weeks & 12 weeks - quite intense, but no spotting or any other worrying sign. Pregnancy ended in DS, now a bouncy 3 year old.
Second pregnancy - no cramps. Felt pretty queasy but all seemed good. Turned out badly in a mmc at 9 weeks, discovered at 12 week scan.
Now pregnant again - have had some twinges but nothing major. Very queasy & dizzy. Now in the 9th week!
I hope everything is fine for you and it is just your uterus twanging away like an over-enthusiastic banjo player. It is very hard not to worry about a loss, I just try to take each additional day as a bonus and an encouraging sign.

Thankyou all very much for your replies
Cramping has continued into the night, it was quite bad but it seems to be settling down. I guess if it's not meant to be, then it's not meant to be. Otherwise I'm taking it as my body's way of telling me to slow down and get some R&R. No bleeding yet, so still holding my breath.

I had full on cramps from about 5-15 weeks with the pregnancy. they weren't mild background one's but painful need to sit down ones.
I'm 28 weeks along with a very healthy kicking baby in my belly right now

I had very bad period type pain from before I even knew I was pregnant (in fact I was so sure I wasnt because of it), until about 7ish weeks. I am now 18 weeks and bub is doing fine.

I love EB so much right now Thanks so much.
After a good nights sleep it's settled right down to a dull background ache, feeling more confident this morning.
Have a scan booked on the 24th, I can't wait, it's going to be the longest wait!
