You ladies are fast......I am seriously wondering how I'm going to last until December...this bump is getting so heavy....I'm about 2kgs heavier in the afternoon, due to fluid....and sleeping is not happening...
I have has this weekend kid free, as my DD is having a little holiday at grandma and grandads farm...which is lovely, but I am missing her lively banter. I started washing all bubs stuff....gosh I have collected heaps.oh well he will be very well dressed, with some awesome bed linen too. Except one of our lovely cats has decided that the cot would be a great place to sleep...so I chucked out the mattresses protector and have replaced it...luckily they are only $6 at Kmart...
I hope everyone is getting some rest over the long weekend, and counting down until the arrival of our babies.. Xxx
Take care

I also have been washing today. Figured while it was a nice day may as well get it done especially since The nursery furniture was delivered during the week and ive been dying to get things washed and put away properly.

Im 28 weeks today and on Friday I have the 1st of 3 growth scans, I think having all these extra appts are going to make the next 12 weeks go by extremly quickly.

My baby shower invites have gone out but now I'm at a loss of what to do. Im not keen on the idea of having all the games but I guess it is to be expected. My mum is organizing the most of it and thats only because she said I cant do it myself. It means I can tell her what I do and dont want. Gosh im fussy haha

Hope all you ladies are feeling well and are counting down the days just like I am. Everyday feels like a week closer. Once bubs is born I know im going to be wishing I was pregnant again. Ive become used to feeling his kicks all day

Hey ladies,

how as everyone's weekends?

We are about a days work away from finishing our living room/dining room and babys room. Thank god, cause i want my couch back. Sitting on my bed all the time is doing in my hip and back.

Who decides to renovate their whole house just before their baby comes, silly silly us.

All of our gradnparents take one look at my bump and think we are having twins. I know im not but does that mean im huge! I reckon its probably because, i wear tighter clothes to what they are used to.

Oh DH took some really nice pics of me pregnant. I absolutely love them. Not half naked ones, just in a nice dress where you can see my belly.

We start antenatal classes next week yay

Hi all,

I have a question for you all, how do you feel about renovating while pregnant?  My DH started our bathroom and laundry on the weekend because it has to be done before baby arrives but I'm worried that all the dust that's been stirred up from the demolition is going to do some sort of harm to bubs....I've been extra careful with things but there is dust everywhere no matter what I do.  Any advice would be appreciated rolleyes.gif

Hey Kels

We are renovating at the moment.  So I totally know what you mean.

I personally just try and have separate the area that is being renovated from the areas that i live in and keep them as clean as possible. I close the door to our bedroom. The current only liveable room in the house.

When they were doing hte plastering I left the house for the day until they cleaned it up as plaster dust is very fine. But ask your midwife and OB as well they will tell you what to stay away from.

Hey Kels, we redid our bathroom when I was 6 months pg with my first (because I couldn't get the stupid shower door shut anymore- too fat). I made sure I was out the whole day when they were removing asbestos sheet from the walls, and didn't do any of the painting/grouting because of the smell. My DH and his crew were really good about cleaning up and keeping doors shut so they stink out the whole house, and we did have an alternative shower/toilet in the bungalow outside. I wouldn't stress too much about it.

Hi ladies  waves.gif

Sorry I've been a bit MIA lately, I've had a bit of a financial crisis that threw me into a tailspin so I've been frantically trying to sort that out. Long story short- my manager is an incompetent idiot  rolleyes.gif

I hope everyone has been keeping well, especially Leafprincess and all the others that were having troubles.

keebra99 Hi, we're due on the same day! It really is super exciting and starting to sink in even more now!

All Baby's washing was done last week- clothes, blankets, towels and nappies. It's currently sitting in the cot waiting for me to put it away. Has anyone else started packing their hospital bag yet? I've got one for me and one for Baby, which is already packed. I've half started mine because I have no idea what clothes I want to take with me yet!

The family is already betting on when Baby will decide to make her grand entrance- some of them say as early as this week  ffear.gif But I guess they're just going off the fact that I was a 28 weeker and also the sixth generation of preemie babies in my family. I keep saying any time after Dec 1st will be fine since that's about when I'll be full term.

Anyway hope you're all having a lovely day  happy.gif

Stardusties - I started Bubs bag a couple of weeks ago, I have NO idea what to pack. So far Ive got jumpsuits in 0000 and 000, mittens and socks. As for me I have no idea what to pack for myself all ive thought of so far is hairbrush and toothbrush haha

Being that im due 24th of Dec most of my family are putting bets of me giving birth Chrissie Day (YAY! mad.gif ) Oh well im not too fussed as long as he is happy and healthy.

I'm not packing a hospital bag but I have started on our labour kit. So far it has 2 dozen towels (thank goodness for 2nd hand stores), hose, tap adaptors, tarp, labour 'nightie' and one of those wrap around velcro towel thingys.

Kjdean - I'm 'due' on the 22nd and had to laugh when DH came home from visiting his relies a few weeks ago and told me about a conversation that he'd had with his aunty. She asked how I was going and when I was due. When he said the 22nd she replied with, 'well you know there's a good chance she'll be in hospital over Christmas?'. He told me he could now understand how I feel when people ask me which hospital we're going to and not wanting to have to justify our decision he just responded with,'we'll see'.

KiwiMel - our DHs must have had the same idea. I wore jeans and a fitted tshirt to show off the bump and posed on the new bike.  Thought we should keep the clean (as in no excess flesh showing) as DHs sister had requested some bump pics. She lives in Japan and was worried she might miss out on seeing me pg as she doesn't come home till the 16th of December I think.

AFM - am having a bit of trouble with SPD but apart from that everything else seems to be traveling along nicely.
We have one day left before DH goes back to sea so trying to decide what to do to make it special.  It's been lovely having him home for so long (he was even kind enough to go to maccas for me at 10 lat night as I had a wicked craving for a cheeseburger. I didn't expect him to go, I was just expressing my frustration but there was nothing I could do to stop him. And I'm telling you now, best cheeseburger ever!) but it's going to be hell having him leave again. He had to get his gear out today so we could double check he had everything he needs and DS almost broke down when he saw DHs work bag  sad.gif   This'll also be the first time DH goes during the school holidays so it'll be hard taking him to the airport with DS (who normally cries uncontrollably at the gate if he comes with us). He always does much better if he says goodbye at home before school and then comes home to just me. Will be so glad when DH changes jobs (we're aiming for around march next year), but enough whinging from me.

Hope everyone else is having a better day.

oh Oma! - I feel for you and your son. My Dh has just had a shift from working 4 days, 4 nights 4 days off (which meant he was never home and got two weekends every 12 weeks) to a normal 38 week. Which just wasnt enough, so he got a new job.

He contemplated going over the hill to work in the mines as he gets lots of job overs out there but we decided its not worth it.

After he got his new job his old job told him they will do anything to get him to stay, so he now works Mon- THurs 4 x 12.5 hour days and has a 3 day weekend. Its the best shift ever and really helps with all the renovations we have been doing.

i seriously am in awe of you ladies who are at home by yourselves with small children while your hubbies are working.

Afternoon Ladies original.gif

Just sticking my head in to make an appearance and say hello! We finally made it into the third trimester!

I am sore and crampy and so so very pleased that this will be our final addition to our family. My body is not a fan of pregnancy.

Speaking of which I again have GD...at the moment just diet controlled, but can't see me getting through the next 11 weeks without insulin but hey who knows!!

Okay so a big hello to all, I am sorry for my lack of personals, I have been totally stalking this thread but find postiong difficult (thanks to carpal tunnel in my right hand)...

Hi All,

Wow, can't believe people already have their bags packed... I feel so unorganised!! Just getting the nursery painted and still trying to find the perfect wallpaper for a feature wall. Decision making has never been my strong point but it seems pregnancy has made it even harder! Other than that have bought a cot, ordered the pram and have a car seat but that's about all other than some super cute little clothes. Hope I'm not the only one this far behind!

Other than that just got my third cold in less than three months. I hate to complain as I know there are people going through much worse in terms of health struggles and my heart goes out to you all. Still though this cold business is incredibly annoying. I am wary of loading up on too many vitamins at this stage too so if anyone has any miracle cures send them my way!

Had GD test on Monday, ewww... not a fan of that drink, it gave me the worst reflux (although most things do these days!) Hoping I get the all clear and all my bloods come back healthy!

Other than that getting very excited to meet our little man. 29 weeks today...

Hope everyone is loving this sunshine and nice weather for a change (well here in VIC at least!)

Posted 03 October 2012 - 02:11 PM

Wow, you girls are organised. Haven't even thought about packing a hospital bag yet. Haven't started washing clothes either, think ill wait a few more weeks for some better weather.

I'm still in denial about the Christmas baby, due 24th and really don't want to be in hospital/ doctors appointmentsover christmas, so i have convinced  myself I'm going tobe early - by like 3 weeks. Might be in for a wait.

#19 cletus

Posted 03 October 2012 - 09:15 PM

bluebird - bub might be late and you might have a Jan baby so you might miss the whole Christmas in hospital!

letsgivethisago - i can sympathise, I had about 4 colds early on and it's very annoying. It probably gets worse as you get further along. Nothing like sneezing, coughing and blowing your nose to test how those pelvic floor muscles are holding up...and if they aren't inspiring you to do some PF exercises!

S-n-S - sorry to hear things are on the painful side. At least if you've made up your mind this is your last, that must offer some sort of relief for you. BUmmer on the GD, hope it all stays under control for you.

KiwiMelW - glad to hear things are working out with hubby's job. I've got a shift worker myself, but at least it's 2 days on, 2 nights on, then 4 days off. I too am in awe of all the mums out there who are home all week while their hubbies work!

Oma Desala - hopefully your son doesn't get too upset. You must be looking forward to March rolling around. How long will DH be away for when he goes?

I'm guessing from your comments you're going for a home birth? Did you have a home birth with DS or is this going to be a new experience for you?

kjdean - hand cream. Actually you probably won't need it for a couple of weeks, but seriously with all the hand washing that comes with changing nappies and feeding, a good hand cream is a must. When DS was born, a girlfriend sent me hand cream as the congrats gift. I was baffled for a bit, then after a couple of weeks, I totally got it and was desperately using it. Also, if you are planning on breastfeeding, Lansinoh or some other cream can be a lifesaver. I had super cracked nipples and it was awesome stuff (oh and you'll need a heap of breast pads as well - nothing says 'classy' like leaking into your tops!).

Stardusties - how organised are you? I haven't even bought baby clothes yet or dug out DS's stuff to wash. The 'nursery' is still the spare room/dumping ground with a couch in it! But if you do come from a long line of premmie babies- makes sense to be prepared. Everyone thought my friend was nuts going off work at 32 weeks on the off chance bub was early (both her and her sister were born at 32 weeks), and she didn't even make it to her last day of work. She went into labour the night before she was due to finish up! So probably wise to be prepared (now watch your little one be late after all your preparation!)

Kels22 - good luck with the renovating, I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

AFM - got my GD results back today. 4.4 which is awesome. I was a bit nervous since I had such a different experience this time around with the test.

Had an OB appt today and bub is now head down, which I sort of guessed after I started to really FEEL kicking yesterday, makes such a difference when it is up high.

My fundal height is about 4-5 cm behind where it should be but this has been the pattern since my 19 week scan. I've got a growth scan next weeks so fingers crossed bub hasn't dipped below the 5th percentile!

#20 LunaTwilight88

Posted 04 October 2012 - 10:00 AM

So i got the results back last night for my GCT. All good my sugar was 5.4 and I was sent to a cardiologist a few weeks back for shortness of breath and the results of that came back clear so my thumper is working well. I just need to slow down sometimes. Try telling that to a neurotic boss who thinks you can still do the same stuff you did pre-pregnancy.
Growth scan tomorrow im actually really excited its been 8 weeks since ive had an ultrasound so I cant wait to see how big Mason has grown. I sure know ive grown.

Is anyone else doing shared care with their GP and Hospital as a public patient? Im not to sure if after growth scans i need appts with midwives or just my doctor. I rang the hospital and she couldnt tell me if the sky was blue or green.

Hi all, hope everyone is feeling well.
I can't believe I hit the 30 week mark yesterday, it's all getting a bit scary  now                                                                       .
I've not made a start on the nursery yet, but DH will buy some sample pots this  week so hopefully we can decide on final colours this weekend.
After a great pregnancy mood wise so far I think the pregnancy depression/ mood  swing thing is finally catching up with me. I can't do anything due to stupid  spd pain, I'm on crutches all the time now, just using one at work though as I  need to keep a hand free. I'm the group leader in the 0-2 room at a child care  centre and it's just not the kind of job you can do half a*sed so I push myself  at work and then can't move at all when I get home. And because I can't do much  walking I've missed out on doing all the fun baby shopping cry1.gif DH has been and bought the  stroller and all the furniture and put on a big lay-by at Target for nappy bag/  sheets and blankets and stuff, so we are pretty organised I just feel like I've  missed out.. and to complete my winge (I'm so sorry about the me me me post)  it's my birthday this weekend and both my sisters are taking their kids and  going down to the beach for the whole weekend, so our usual family bbq lunch  won't happen.. and I feel unloved and forgotten (I'm having a pregnant mama  dummy spit- you can tell I'm the youngest tongue.gif ).
It's good to hear how organised everyone is getting, I've got a question about  washing the baby things, do you use normal washing powder? or no powder? and do  you tumble dry to make things soft and test for shrinkage or line dry?

#22 Izy Bee

Posted 04 October 2012 - 07:19 PM

Hi all....I got my GD test results..all great...but I have to have another scan in two weeks...as bub is 3 weeks bigger than normal...oh well.....maybe it means he can be born a little earlier..

Mrs LY...you wash baby clothes in wool wash, or lux flakes..or I'm using liquid called purity..which is bub safe....bub you can still hang on the line....with DD I used lux flakes for the first  2 years..it makes their clothes so soft..

#23 steen2007

Posted 05 October 2012 - 11:40 AM

Izy Bee- Dont bet on an early arrival! DS1 always measured ahead and then went 10 days over! He was 4.45kg so way to big! Plus the scans can only give you an idea.

We are plodding along here. Bad day at the shop with SPD, thinking I might have to do online shopping as I am just not making it around. DH still in VIC for 2 more months so just have to work our coping strategies.

#24 Izy Bee

Posted 05 October 2012 - 02:09 PM

Steen...DD was 5 weeks early and 7lb 7oz..so an early one is still on the cards due to past history..and it's a booked c-section....so depending on the OB...it will be at least 2 weeks early...maybe 3 if I'm lucky...
