I heard on the radio this morning of Melissa George's big hissy fit on the Morning Show, following constant reference to her stint on Home and Away back in the 90's. She's basically over it.
Here's an article about it http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/tv-and...1110-294uq.html
I quite liked her in Home and Away, it was the only time I watched the show, and like it or not, I think she is probably still remembered in Australia as Angel. But it's probably a tanty she'll regret very soon! what do you think, embarrasing cringe worthy moment or do you think she has a point?

Is there anything that actually shows her chucking her wobbly? I don't know where I am going wrong, I have seen a couple of links to video of her appearance on the Morning Show, and I click them and watch, but they only show her being normal during an interview, not this bizzare behaviour. Am I missing something? LOL.
And no, I don't think she has a point, I think she is being very precious, despite not having seen this actual footage. It makes her sound very up herself.

She needs a reality check. Without Home and Away to start off her career, she would have been a nobody.
she needs to remove the broomstick.

Cringe worthy. I know she's done other work, but tbh I haven't seen any of it. I just remember her from H&A - and I never even watched the show! I think that she might end up regretting sounding like a t*at, but with that attitude, she just may not even care what we morons back on oz think.

I think the tanty was off air? Certainly seems quite composed in the actual interview.

I've seen her in grey's, derailed, lie to me. Fair enough, it must be annoying to constantly have to talk about that show, everyone's got their breaking point.

The tanty was off air after the segment.
She has done quite a lot since H&A. Her performance in The Slap was pretty impressive, among others.
I imagine Nicole Kidman would be over it if everyone kept bringing up BMX Bandits every time she returned to Australia too. Or Johnny Depp if everyone kept going back to 21 Jump Street.
Sure, she really let go, and she probably will regret it, but I'm not Ms Coolheaded every minute of every day.
As much as she's embarrassed herself, I'd cut her some slack.

I'd have been annoyed too. Why interview someone if you can't do your research and ask a halfway to relevant question? It's unprofessional and she has a large enough body of work not to need to spend more than a question on a role from her teens.
I'm fairly in her camp. I hate nothing more (that's right, nothing) than listening to some jumped up radio or TV hack with no skills trying to interview someone who is actually good at their job. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard to listen to it. I can only imagine how trying it must be to be on the receiving end.
And when it's a muso they'll inevitably play some high selling single from 5 albums ago, completely ignoring the album they are actually touring which is why they are being interviewed in the first place! Grr.

I think Tory Maguire sums it up rather well:

There was another article on news.com.au about it all today.
She also did a radio interview and hung up on them.
They asked many questions about her most recent work and a few other high profile pieces that she had done. Well into the interview there was a question that referenced Home and Away and she immediately said that the interview was obviously over now and hung up.
Frustrating? Yes, it probably is but the people who watched her on Home and Away would also form part of her fan base. This show did give her her start.
Many performers answer questions about their roots without having a tanty.

This is not the first time she has had a tanty about this, it has happened before. She needs to remember where she came from and how she got started in the industry.
Before H&A she was just a high school drop out who entered roller skating comps. She was a roller skating champion from what I remember.

I thought Mr Fischer raised her to be better than that.

Hahaha!! That's funny.
I was always a little bit thrilled when I'd hear of "our Melissa George's" success in the US. But now, I think we should give her what she wants from us - silence.
If we think those comments hurt our national sense of pride, imagine how much they hurt the feelings of the likes of Ray Meagher, Kate Ritchie, Dieter Brummer and the rest of the old Home and Away crew.

Probably a PR stunt to get people interested in her new series.
Posted 13 November 2012 - 05:49 AM
I don't blame her, they had home and away signage and clips from home and away, as was here for her new series not just on a visit. She is a lot more than home and away and that show didn't get her to where she is now - her more recent roles and her hard bloody work has. I don't think we keep on about actresses or actors and their first job.

I never liked her. So Im glad she is a t*at through and through.

I am not a Melissa George fan, but I saw her on Jonothan Ross recently and she was fantastic. I think this story is a Channel 7 beat up, quite frankly.
Posted 13 November 2012 - 07:04 AM
I can see why she would be annoyed, but I don't think it warrants a tanty, or hanging up on a phone interview. I really think she should have sucked it up. I am a fan of all of her recent work, but the comments she made were pretty pretentious.
Posted 13 November 2012 - 07:05 AM
I absolutely agree she has a point. Everyone moves on, famous or not. Unfortunately her point was lost in the very ungracious manner she voiced her opinion.
Posted 13 November 2012 - 07:29 AM
She probably does get sick of H&A being mentioned, but saying she won't come back here anymore is definitely a throwing the toys out of the pram. Who cares love?
Posted 13 November 2012 - 07:48 AM
It's a fair call that bringing up Home and Away still is pretty stupid, even if it is probably still a fond memory for some. And it's a fair call if she mentioned that on air.
But all that princess with her croissant and how hard it is being back in the country rubbish, is just that - rubbish. I'd bet hundreds of people would have KILLED for the opportunity she had in H&A that would have at least partially launched her international career - and 95% of them would not be so rude about it once they finally 'made' it.
I think it's easy for a person, once they've 'made it', to remember to be grateful for the opportunities they got, that if they hadn't got, would have changed their lives to something quite different.
They start to think they are entitled to tell people what to think and say about them, just because of how legendary they are.
Lost the plot.

I think the she has should accept that until she does something to overshadow her H&A role it's what she will be remembered for. I'm thinking Kylie, Hugh, Sam, Guy and so many other award winning Aussies who had the same humble beginnings but who are not quite so up themselves. I say she very immature for her age; a megalomaniac who has given the media enough fodder in that interview for a lifetime of jokes.
Posted 13 November 2012 - 08:14 AM
I never watched H&A.
I dont believe Melissa George is behaving well. There are many other ways to handle the situation and treatment she objects too. Least of all releasing statements about walking her dog and eating croissants. If thats how she feels then she should well just go! Shes having a self indulgent tanty. And TBH if she never came back to work in Australia then I wouldnt notice. She needs to get over herself, and grow up.
Oh and I dont think shes that great, theres something pouty about her mouth that I always stare at, just MHO.
