A couple of questions

Do you give more for birthday or Christmas?

For birthday's do you give a number of presents, or spend a certain amount?

I have a number of things on layby for birthday and Christmas and don't know how many to give.

Fluffy problem I realise...

Probably a little more for Christmas as she always has a party but only gets presents from us and my Mother for Christmas.

I have spent $1000 but usually spend around $300 on each occasion.

More presents at Christmas - around $1000 each

Parties is where our money goes at birthdays all have been around $1500 to $2500. Presents are $250 and under. Also a day out on birthdays so another $100

I spend more for Christmas. I'm a bit of a Christmas tragic! And love the magic of it. Plus I'm buying presents from two people!! Tounge1.gif

For birthdays I spend a certain amount (set a budget) rather than number of presents.

Usually about even.   We may do less presents if we have a special birthday party.    But it also depends on their age and what they are recieving.

I shop early and budget stricter for Christmas - too many damn presents to buy.

Birthdays, there is a budget but its not so bad if we go over a little.

Other than the stocking at Christmas, here, everyone gets one present from everyone else (so 4 gifts), although the children may each get a combined gift from DH and me.  They get loads of gifts from extended family as well on both occasions.

More for Christmas. I don't know why really, probably because I'm a sucker for Christmas. I tend to spend around $150 for birthdays- DD's will be less this year as she's having a party.

I think of it as being about the same for birthdays and Christmas, but in reality I spend more on their birthdays. I usually buy one or two items for each child and sometimes a shared gift as well. Sometimes it's something inexpensive, sometimes it costs more depending on what I think they'd like.
The get gifts from other relatives so they do pretty well IMO, even if I only give them one thing, e.g. a Lego set.
I spent a little under $100 on my 4yo's birthday present, $20 on my 1yo's present and $65 on my nearly 6yo's birthday present. I'll probably spend up to $40 each for Christmas.

More for Christmas here too. Made up generally of lots of smaller gifts for my 3.5 DD and one or two larger/expensive gifts for my older children who are pre-teen.

Birthdays we generally spend a fair bit on a party and then around $200 on a gift.
