I received some pieces from my Nan's estate - three brooches, a pair of screw earings that match one of the brooches, and a ring.

I believe they are costume pieces as I can't see any markings on the brooches and earrings, but I'd like the stones identified so I can descrbe them in my jewellery inventory. (Yes, I'm a bit nerdy that way, I have a 'story card' for each piece so future generations can know the stories behind them.)

If I was to take it all to a jeweller, could they id the stones?

Also, the ring is stamped as 10k, can anyone xplain that to me? My google only revealed it is a US 'mix' of gold - does that mean the ring would have come from the US?

A lot of the jewellers around me will often have a jeweller on site to do valuations. I'm guessing they'd be able to ID the stones and possibly some other details. They generally have a sign up saying days and times that they have a jeweller on site
