We are staying in Melbourne (Southbank hotel) for 3 days and we are more than likely staying around the central area but we would love to travel on trams mostly. There will be 4 adults (2 of the adults will be staying an extra 2 days) and 1 child

Can anyone suggest a travel card etc. or any other travel tips?

Thanks in advance

I believe there is a MYKI visitors' package which contains your travel card plus info on places to go.  The MYKI office is near the town hall on Swanston St just over Collins St.

The hotel should have the info and also the tourist office under Fed square is excellent.
