I was hoping not to do this until after the divorce is finalised but I have bills to pay .

It was worth around $1300. Bought back in 2003.

I'm in WA if it's any help.

Thanks.

have you had a valuation done?  Ebay or Gumtree once you have a price to work off....

I'd be selling other stuff if you can. Jewellery never gets anywhere near the price you paid for it. Or even taking a second job for a few months. If you're prepared to give some more info around your financial situation, I'm sure the good people of EB will have loads of suggestions for you.

If you have a valuation certificate I would probably sell on eBay with a starting from price. Otherwise I'd just take it to Cashies. You probs won't get heaps for it but you'll get something.

You would make more money selling your computer.

How much are you after OP? as others have said while it could be worth x amount you won't get anywhere near that

you'd be lucky to get $100 for it at cash converters.  Good luck

With cash converters they generally don't take jewelery without a receipt in case it's been stolen. I agree with getting a valuation and selling on eBay.

you could take it to a proper jeweller and see how much they would offer.  Mostly you'll get the weight of the gold and some for the diamonds.

Nope the diamonds are worthless secondhand. You could try a gold merchant instead but yes Cashies would be the best price. And maybe 10% of what it was worth originally.

I knew the resale value was really bad, but I didn't realise diamonds were worthless secondhand.

If it was only $1300 new, you really won't get much for it. Honestly, I would look for other things to sell.

Diamonds are worthless 2nd hand...... Why?

A big diamond isn't worthless... but small ones are near as good as worthless because the process of verifying them as genuine will cost you more in wages than the stones themselves are worth.

I recently sold a Tiffany engagement ring on eBay - it was originally $3,500 and had box, certificate etc. I listed it multiple times and eventually sold it for $850.

The prices offered aren't huge but this service is super convenient.  I have used them and found their customer service excellent.
