DH and I decided last night that instead of having babies in the 2 year plan, we're going to do a fancy river cruise first, and THEN talk about babies.

I personally would love to do it over Christmas - first snow experience, christmas overseas, history, culture....!!

I've been looking at these guys

Any companies you know and would / would not recommend?

My mum and dad did a 2 week cruise in August and loved it. I would like to go on one too OP but from what I could gather its mostly older people, ie 50 yrs and over, who go on them, so we would be a bit starved of company of our own age.

But yeah, the idea of lounging on the deck as we cruise through all those beautiful countries sounds much better than traveling by bus!

ETA the company mum and dad went through, as of next year the cruise packages include food AND alcohol!

I'm in a community choir, and DH is 20 years my senior, so old folk don't bother me Tounge1.gif

It'll be winter, so I can see a lot of "rugged up and reading books" going on!

What company did your parents go through?

How dogs could make children better readers

Issues around children learning to read are rarely out of the news. Which is hardly surprising – becoming a successful reader is of paramount importance in improving a child's life chances. Nor is it surprising that reading creates a virtuous circle: the more you read the better you become. But what may come as a surprise is that reading to dogs is gaining popularity as a way of addressing concerns about children's reading.
