When taking a car seat on a domestic flight as checked baggage, does it need to be boxed up or will it be fine if the straps are secured and unboxed?

We have never boxed ours, just taken as is with the straps done up and the tether straps tucked in. Never had any issues!

I've never boxed ours. Sometimes we've been given a large plastic bag to put it in, but usually it just goes on as is. We try and tie straps up so they don't flop around and get stuck.

We just flew last week and took out boys booster seats. I bagged them up in a large clear bag (in garbage bag section at Woolworths) and the seats were fine. original.gif

Could you put a big garbage bag over it incase it rains or gets dirty! I've always just put mine in a big garbage bag, I havnt worried about a box then my seats arnt that expensive. I've always trusted the baggage handlers to be Carefull with it.

That's what we do too. If they don't offer, we ask for a bag.

Yep, mine have always gone into a plastic bag supplied by the airline.  Never a problem.

Have a lovely holiday.
