I have soooo many baby clothes and toys and DS3 is 4 months now. I am looking at getting rid of stuff but wondering what to do with it. I'd love to donate the good stuff to someone who would otherwise not be able to give their baby these things. I'd rather not put them in a charity bin.
A local women's refuge may have clients that could use the items. The local multiples association may take donations of clothes, ours does and hold a yearly clothing sale to raise money, some of the items are also given to families in need.
My DS daycare collects clothes for needy families.
Are you on Facebook? There are lots of 'Pay It Forward' type sites, ie. groups where people list things that they have to give away, usually broken down into regions (e.g. northern suburbs of Sydney). A quick search on FB should help you find something if you're interested.
OP It might be worth getting in touch with Dandelion- I know the Melbourne group have multiple suburbs where donations are accepted so there might be something closer by for you to go to with Dandelion
I usually hang onto stuff until someone comes my way who needs stuff. I heard about a local woman who finished her family, 3 kids, and then suddenly found herself caring for a relative's child after child protection got involved. I was able to pretty much set her up, and she has sworn she will then pass it on to another person in need. Most of it I got second hand myself! Baby stuff can have such long lives.
I'm wondering if you could tell your maternal health nurse you have some stuff, and could she pass your email on to a mum in need? Someone did that and my dear friend was the beneficiary! It was such an amazing act of generosity. Or even a minister or local youth worker.
