mil was telling me about a slice she had made for a bring a plate function.  she left it on the bench over night covered in cling wrap.  the next morning she found the slice had been nibbled at and mice droppings on the bench top.  she was disappointed because it meant she had to cut off 4 pieces of the slice.   sick.gif

she was disgusted when dh said I would have thrown the whole thing out and made a new one

I found some stuff in our shed that had mouse dropings, with the droppings usually came puddles. Mouse pee slice  sick.gif

Tossed it, baited and made sure the entire kitchen was cleaned thoroughly so that they couldn't find another crumb to entice them into setting up shop.

It would depend - if it was clearly nibbled through the cling wrap in one place and the rest still securely covered then the mouse couldn't have touched the rest and so I'd be ok with keeping the rest.  If it was loosely covered and there was no way of knowing if the mouse had wandered all over it - bin.

at a restaurant?   sick.gif

"sorry mam, we have mice and they seemed to have walked over your dessert. Never mind they
wiped their feet on the mat before they did"  wink.gif

Bin!

And I would probably not ever touch another thing she prepares if that is her attitude.

That would mark the end of me eating any food prepared by her.

In the bin. And consider moving house. Certainly the cat would be admonished. And in the extremely unlikely event I decided it could be eaten, I'd keep quiet about it.
