What do you think of the list?
http://www.essentialbaby.com.au/photogalle...1229-2c0x0.html

Did they get it right? It is based on the threads with the most replies apparently but I suspect some selective prerogative has also been applied.

If a quality was a factor which threads would you include as best of 2012?

I think I only actually read 2 of those, and I would only have considered the Bridezilla one.

That list is complete sh*te.

I really don;t see that debating the yellow wiggles was really earth shatteringly popular....

The fascinator obsessed bride deserves to be there, but the remaining inclusions are hideous.

What should have made the list is the embarrassing yum cha companion and follow up thread where the same person is unbelievably
rude about her birthday gift of dinner.

Yeah, most of those were pretty ordinary. I agree with the PP, the bridezilla one deserves to be there, but all the others had me going 'huh? Really?'

I don't know why, but EB seems obsessed with plugging Chrissie Swan. I know she is probably on their pay roll but I don't find her the least bit interesting. I don't even remember the threads that were written about her "subjects".

That's a bit too much publicity for those OPs - I'd go back and delete all my posts in a "screw you Fairfax" manner if they had picked one of my threads.

Which wouldn't happen 'cause my threads aren't that interesting.

Agreed.

Was the thread about the neighbor buying everyone a letterbox to make the street more stylish this year?  I think the crazy neighbor did other things too?

Most of those threads I don't recall at all! The bridezilla one definitely.....I can't believe that a baby naming thread made the list... But then again I don't get the whole concept of a "sibset".. I mean just choose a name you like and run with it...why does it matter if it doesn't "match" or gel with your older child's name....?

I don't think I've ever read a Chrissie Swan article, and I've never seen any discussion of it, so not sure how she made the list twice.   huh.gif    I don't even remember a thread about the wiggles.

Bridezilla is the only one really worthy of inclusion out of all the ones on that list.

Not a memorable list at all.

Bridezilla was the stand out winner of the year.

All the drama, all the suspense, and the finale?!!! Amazing.

I totally agree OP.

Unfortunately something will only be done (ie no longer on sale) when we have a number of drownings. Isn't it usually the way?? Something tragic has to happen & some poor family/families loose little ones before anything is done.

I have actually done this. When a thread is used as a money spinner and advertising.

I'd be worried if I was Livsh, that her (totally justified) vent about a family member was being used in publicity (with the potential of attracting her new SIL to the boards).

19 year olds at daycare will always be my personal favourite for 2012.

There was a LOT of debate, spin-offs etc about Jill Maher, but I notice none of that made the list.

I wonder if any of the OPs were advised that their threads would be used in this "article".  In particular, the OP whose children's names were listed in the article.

EB's list was based on the threads that met the following criteria:

1. with the most replies
2. not on controversial issues
3. that didn't derail or crash and burn
4. that didn't involve massive snark fests

So that narrowed down all of the thousands of threads on EB for 2012 to the only ones provided in the list  wink.gif

The Bridezilla thread has just been updated so the saga continues there. Who knows, it may end up one of 2013's most popular threads as well.

I can't recall if that was 2012 or 2011 but it was a brilliant thread

What about howdo's rescue cat and kittens?  That was an epic thread.  Was it in 2011 or 2012?

The sex during pregnancy thread was actually from 2008. Admin admit during the thread that they refreshed it in 2012 to link in with one of their articles. Seriously?

To be honest, seeing that list advertised on the SMH website has made me realise how public this forum has become. I honestly feel sorry for those whose threads have been published so widely. Particularly the easily identifiable people.

we definatly were not notified or anything of the sort, but i believe that as its on a Public internet forum they dont need to.

There are almost a quarter of a million members on EB. Probably double that many people access the site as guests who come across via links in Fairfax news stories.

I think people need to realise this is a public and very high profile forum. TBH, I am always surprised at how much highly personal information people willingly provide about themselves on EB.
