After going through acute appendicitis last month, and having antibiotics - which is quite common landed myslef with C.Diff over xmas.  A course of Metro... antibitoics over the new year cleared up the signs quickly but apparently the bug must have remained and when the Metro.. was finished the bug came back worse.
After being hospitalised this week with severe illness I now have C.Diff Collitis and am on Vanco.. antibioticcs.  However the diarrheoa has somewhat eased but is still frequent.  Just this morning already is three times.

Can anyone shed some hope that this suffering does end.  Because I was hopeful after the first lot of antibiotics and they didn't work sad.gif

Hi there,

Whilst in hospital i caught c diff, i feel for you, as it's not a nice bug.  It took me 3 lots of antibiotics, 2 courses of the 1st then one of the 2nd (i know they were very specific ones but am unable to recall the names).   It definitely felt like it hung around and wasn't easy to beat, but i did eventually get rid of it...there's hope original.gif

I was paranoid about hygiene (went a little OTT with it original.gif ) as i was concerned my children would catch it.

Hang in there, but make sure you keep on top of it (keep going back to dr if it's not getting better) as it can have some nasty side effects.

Good luck!

Hi there,

thankyou thankyou thankyou for assuring me there is light at the end of this....
having just been back to doctors yesterday and have done another sample (won't find out till next week though) whether I still have the bug - I still 'feel' like I do, as things are not back to normal.  I am now about to start my 3rd lot of antibitoics, back on the Metro antibiotics as that kept it at bay.... its just a pain playing the waiting game.  And I myself have been nuts about hygiene.

Thanks heaps, will be looking more positive now original.gif

How dogs could make children better readers

Issues around children learning to read are rarely out of the news. Which is hardly surprising – becoming a successful reader is of paramount importance in improving a child's life chances. Nor is it surprising that reading creates a virtuous circle: the more you read the better you become. But what may come as a surprise is that reading to dogs is gaining popularity as a way of addressing concerns about children's reading.
