Okay, I have no children and no work, and am thinking of jumping in my car and road-tripping it solo for the next 3 days. Where would you head? I love driving, so any reasonable distance is okay.

Where are you based?

Near to Canberra

I guess it depends - if I head coastal, then I probably need to pre-book and make the decision tonight. If I head inland, then I can probably wing it.

Uploading "solo-chick road-trip" songs to the iPod now.

Tathra - 3 hr drive from Canberra.  Great beach without crowds. Fish and chips for lunch and Fat Tony's for dinner.

My family is down that way ... but maybe I could sneak down and tell no one. I have never been to Fat Tony's, despite many recommendations! My youth may have been more than a little mis-spent at Tathra pub (think the era of the Radiators, Choirboys etc)

Oh, come ON!!!!  I have about 8 hours until my sleep is exhausted and I hit the road!  Surely you guys have some ideas ... or I will blame you when I am sitting partaking a bundy and rum with the blokes in boons-ville.

It's about 5-6 hours drive I think but I love the Gippsland Lakes area in Vic. Lakes Entrance, Metung etc
Or I'd go to Sydney, park myself in a fancy hotel and spend my days shopping and sitting in cafes drinking my drinks before they went cold for once wink.gif

Oh but I like my drinks cold original.gif Oh, but you are drinking coffees? I might have been leaning toward a vino.

Hot chocolate, they always turn into cold chocs before I get to them these days. But I must say a vino does sound appealing!

Right. Time for bed. I have driving to do in the morning. So, heads means turn left, and tails turn right, huh? Gunna suck if I end up right back at home! (heads, heads, heads, heads)

have a great trip, some of the best times I had with mum growing up was when we would go out for a Day using a similar outlook as to turn left or right.. We found some incredible places and the most DIVINE winery (this was years later when we decided to revisit the past lol).

Stay safe and keep listening to local radio to ensure no fire activity etc and enjoy..

The beach might not have crowds but at this time of year there is no accom there, it's full of Canberras and Victorians!

Hopefully you didn't head to Tathra OP given the Millingandi fire!

I had a lousy sleep on Friday night (probably stressing over where I could go), so decided it was probably not the smartest move to do a long drive.

I did do a Sunday drive yesterday - lunch at Grandma's Little Bakery at Collector, then drove out to Crookwell, Gunning etc.

Not nearly as exciting as the original concept drive though!
