I hurt my ankle last Sunday night in a strange way. Got up in the middle of the night and when I put my right foot on the ground it gave way. I had no sensation in it & could not bear weight on it. Half asleep, took another step and same thing happened, this time not only rolling my ankle but smashed it into the skirting board. Took another step to try and get back to bed and same thing happened.
Anyway..had intense pain at the time. A lot of pain the next day and could only walk with my foot on the side, pressure applied to the outer bone of the foot. Lots of swelling but no bruising. Pain got lesser & lesser. By now, the pain is only there in certain positions (ie if toes are pointed, pulled back, or I try and sit on my knees) but the swelling is almost as bad as it was the morning after.
Has been a very long time since I last hurt my ankle, so just wondering when I should expect swelling to go down r should I see my physio? Didn't bother getting it checked out as I just assumed it is a sprain/strain and Dr couldn't do much.
