Ok, so as you can see in my sig, i have been blessed with two beautiful children (albeit 18 years apart!)

Our fertility issues being that DP has very low motility and anti sperm antibodies, hence ivf and icsi.

Since having DD, my periods have been ridiculously painful, and extremely heavy, to the point that the first two days of my cycle (tmi) i need to wear a super tampon and a pad, and still leak! So it  is totally impacting on my life, as i literally cant leave the house for the first few days!!

I,ve been to see my GP and his first suggestion is that i start back on the pill to see if that may ease the pain and heaviness.(i have also forgotten to mention that my PMT is sooo bad that i make freddy krueger look like a lovely old man!!!)

Anyway, my dilemma is, that even though it is more than likely 'impossible' that i will ever fall pregnant 'naturally' with DP,s fertility issues and the fact that i,m nearly 41!   ohmy.gif  i deep down desperately am craving another baby!!!I realise that i should be happy with the babies that i,ve been blessed with, but i just don,t feel complete!
So i have my pill script filled and waiting, and every month my period gets worse, but i just can't start taking it yet, just incase!!!
Am i being silly?
Should i just accept that i have my two children and that's it? and if not where should my 'cut off' point be?

I would get a referral to see and OB and get another opinion. They may suggest a D & C to "clean everything out" or something else that doesn't involve taking oral contraception.

Good luck.

Daisyt - I think we are living in the same worlds. I too crave for another baby but have the same af issues as you. I've always been regular and in the last 6 months or so they have been horrific.  Leaking, so very heavy, uncomfortable, etc. I'm also a similar age to you. I have had a blood test and been sent for an internal ultrasound.  Will get the results in a week when I go back to the GP.

I too have been wondering if I should just be happy with my 2 boys, which of course I am, but I can't shake the desire for a 3rd.

I truely hope it all works out for you and you are happy with whatever outcome you have.  biggrin.gif

I had bad periods between my two pregnancies. When I mentioned it to my FS, he asked why I hadn't seen a gynocologist about it? I thought it was just life, as I got older, but he said of course very bad heavy periods can indicate thyroid problems, endometriosis and a whole range of other things which may be treatable.

If I have the same prob again after this baby, I will definitely seek help. Treating the period issue could help with the fertility side of things, right?

(DH won't agree to a 3rd, and all evidence is that we're infertile... I'm just saying I wouldn't be at all disappointed with a surprise, miracle natural conception. It's a million to 1, but still... there's no way I'll be taking any hormonal contraception.)

I would get a specialist appointment for a laperoscopy. Intense pain during my period ended up being severe endometriosis for me. Removal of it resulted in a positive pregnancy test 2 months later and a healthy baby in the end.

D & C is short for dilatation and curettage, Its a medical procedure to scrape out the lining of the uterus - like an internal clean out original.gif

My periods were that bad after my 4 th was born that my iron dropped to 9.2 and I was on strong iron tablets.. I was put on depo injections, and got my months mixed up after being on them for a few year.. Didn't worry because I'm 42.. So decided to do a test just to save the gp from doing it before ringing to make an app for another depo injection..
When 2 lines showed up I was in the toilets at a shopping centre... I will always remember that day original.gif my bubs is 8 weeks today..
Maybe give your body a break from your periods for a short time and then try for another bubs:) I am proof that after having been on contraception for a few years, and  being 42, miracles can happen:) Sending baby dust your way
