I want to add some interest to my evenings. Currently my husband and I share bed and bath, I force myself to cook a meal I'm entirely unenthusiastic about (I used to be a very keen cook) and then we read or I go online until bed. It's all a bit boring and I feel like we're in a bit of a rut. We don't currently have child care so we're pretty much every night. I'd like to bank up some ideas for at home date nights to add a bit of interest to our evenings. Help?

DH & I had one last night, DD was home but she fell asleep really early original.gif

We cooked ourselves a lovely roast chicken, followed by a coffee & some chocolate suggled on the couch watching telly.

We then went to bed earlish too  ph34r.gif

A favourite movie with popcorn always goes down a treat here.

Sometimes we do a BBQ with some nice wine (or any yummy meal with nice wine!).

Board games or card games can be fun too.

Sometimes we put on old favourite music and have  few wines and then laugh at each other dancing stupidly.

Looking back through old photos always makes us laugh and cry too.

Sometimes if we have a child free day or night, we go bowling, or to the movies. Family friendly date days include trips to the beach or park with a picnic lunch or dinner.

Mystery box challenge. One partner buys the ingredients and the other cooks the meal and surpises the partner who bought the ingredients.  Oh and the partner who buys the mystery box ingredients has to pick a wine too

Great idea for a thread OP. DP and I are always struggling to come up with ideas for things to do.

We often do little pamper sessions for each other; we take it in turns to give each other a long foot/back/full body massage.

Are there any TV shows you're both into? Lame as it sounds, we used to really look forward to the new episodes of our favourite shows coming out.

If you're not into cooking dinner, could you try putting together an antipasto platter with meat, cheese, olives etc. and eat outside on a nice evening?

we often do this. When my son was eating we would give the kids dinner and then have an antipasto plate for our dinner later. Now my son is PEG fed and I don't like my daughter eating by herself we have a lighter dinner and then do the antipasto later. In winter we will eat in front of an open fire. Very romantic biggrin.gif

Card games and board games are also a winner. We also play video games together too

Great idea Beancat! Just ran it past DH who loved it. Going to try it out this week.
