I've started doing a casual class at the local gym which is $20 a class. I also go swimming there which is $6 a go. I'm just thinking joining the place would probably be cheaper.
How much do you pay and does it include classes, swimming etc?

$16.95 per week. No swimming pool but all classes and facilities are included in that. No contracts at that gym and you can put your membership on hold if required.
I LOVE the place. It's full of friendly and welcoming people. The owners and instructors made the effort to know my name and say hello/goodbye every single time I go in there. I'm not 'in' with them, it's just how it is. As a bigger girl that was very important to me when I first started there. It helped me come back
I'll never go elsewhere.

$22 per week, and creche is $3 per visit (although I haven't used it yet). Just gym and all classes, no pool or anything

$75-ish per month. Includes pool, gym, all classes (including Pilates and yoga) and they have a fantastic crèche (although it does cost $4.90/child for 2 hours)

DH and I just joined our local Lifestyle Fit gym. They had a special which was $399 (upfront payment) for a years unlimited membership - classes etc, 1 free personal training/assessment session of an hour. We paid upfront - it's more if you pay weekly thought even that's only $14 or something.
No pool but not worried about that

Definitely join! Waaaaay cheaper!

$60 per month for me & $20 each per month for my 2 boys to attend the crèche - unlimited visits but limited to 2 hours per visit - so $100 month. I go 6 times a week so it's definitely good value.
No swimming pool but all classes are included as is a monthly session with a PT to update your program.

Wow, looks like mine is quite expensive. I pay $25 a week for unlimited visits, classes, etc. No pool.
There was a cheaper 12 month membership option for $20 a week, but I thought the flexible, stop-anytime option would be better just in case I needed to cancel the membership for some reason.
I shopped around first and this price was about average (inner Melbourne suburb), and had the bonus of being female-only and close to my place.

I go to Jetts. Just the basics but I enjoy it. $25 a fortnight.

I was paying $29 per fortnight at the YMCA and that was unlimited everything - but they didn't have a pool. There was one nearby that was affiliated with it, but I never used it.
However, I also paid about $8.50 per session for childcare for my two children, and they went three or so times a week. So in the end I was paying nearly $40 a week when it came down to it and I gave up my membership last year because I needed to cut back on expenses.
I bought a treadmill by paying a third deposit and the rest in instalments, and that's just over $40 a fortnight. It means I can do it any time I want. Before I was restricted to going when I could use the creche (2 hours of each week day they were open), and what didn't conflict with other appointments.
This year I will have more time and I could probably rejoin, and definitely next year I'd have more time. But I have enough equipment at home that I really don't have any excuse for not exercising. I have a Wii (Fit/EA Sports/Zumba etc), a cross trainer, a treadmill and free weights as well as a proper weight bench set (left over from my stepson).
While I love the socialisation of the gym, and enjoy using lots of different equipment, and in particular enjoy the group classes, I can't justify the cost right now.

$8.95 a week, no classes but full use of all of the gym and 24 hour access.

$99 a month. Includes pool, gym, all classes. Creche is extra.

$15 a week which includes full gym use and classes, pool, 4 free crèche passes a month, breakfast and a one year magazine subscription. It's usually $30/week but I got a discount because I paid up front and joined with a friend.

I pay $30 a week for two small group PT sessions. I don't do 'gyms'! (Maximum of 10 in a group and each session goes for an hour. Currently there's only five (including me) in my Tuesday session.)

$52 per fortnight - on the exxy side but has indoor + outdoor pool, sauna, steam room, squash and tennis courts, fantastic range of classes including aqua aerobics, great equipment, friendly vibe and buzz. I go upwards of 4 times a week so it's worth every penny.
There is a Fernwood gym nearby which I checked out first, and was a lot cheaper ($25 per fortnight) but was very quiet, no pool and no buzz about the place. I love seeing other people exercising and working hard, inspires me to work harder too.

Issues around children learning to read are rarely out of the news. Which is hardly surprising – becoming a successful reader is of paramount importance in improving a child's life chances. Nor is it surprising that reading creates a virtuous circle: the more you read the better you become. But what may come as a surprise is that reading to dogs is gaining popularity as a way of addressing concerns about children's reading.
Just when you thought it was totally safe to let your kids on social media (just kidding, nobody really thinks that), here comes another warning of ways creeps will try to contact our kids.
Find out how to help your child in the light of the new findings.
Three out of four Australians believe they are overspending on their kids by hundreds of dollars each month. And then there's the gifts.
