Help! turning my lovely dog into my lovely sig

Hi there. I've tried to insert a pic of my lovely dog as my sig but it is clearly too big and going to annoy someone - I don't know or can't work out how to resize it? If I crop it in iphoto, it still appears big here.

Here it is - I would love it if someone could make it a nice long skinny banner style sig like everyone else original.gif

has to be cut and something added to the side to get that shape as the image is square.. something like this. Maybe a text or something?
