I've just returned from a holiday to the US and to my horror discovered that a sales clerk did not remove the security tag from a pair of jeans (don't worry, I have the receipt to prove purchase!). There are no stores in Australia so I can't take it back. It was expensive so naturally I am not willing to write it off.
Has this happened to you? Does anyone have any tips for removing it myself?

Try this.

Not sure how effective these options would be but you could give them a try.

Can you post a photo of the tag?
Maybe someone has seen that brand in a shop here and you can get them to take it off for you.

It happened to my wedding dress  ohmy.gif !!!  I bought it in Melbourne and there was no store here in Adelaide.  The manager found a store that had the same system and we took it in and had it removed by another shop.  My dad offered to saw it off......5 layers of delicate silk and chiffon.....no thx Dad!

So you could find a store in Oz with the same system.

Happened to me on a skirt.  Luckily the tag was in the band so i just sliced down (about 2cm) and then sewed it up again.  Don't think you could do that with jeans, but if it is that or throw them out then I think I would go the chop.

Can you email the store and ask what the system is and what they suggest you do - sound like their error not yours?

Thanks. I will try to post a photo. Both sides of the tag are circular, slightly raised so not flat.

I did email and the reply was 'Unfortunately there is not a lot we can do but try taking it to other stores'.

I tried one this morning and they refused. I have emailed back saying if I am unsuccessful I expect them to replace the item and cover all associated costs. No reply yet!

It looks like the one on this website - http://www.tribemagazine.com/board/girl-st...ing-system.html

Same on both sides.

I will show DH when he gets home and ask him if he knows about them. He usually knows all the tagging systems.

It wil probably be magnetic. i would try smaller boutiques etc over a chain store (that may have a policy about removing tags from stores other than their own).

Unless labelled I doubt it has an ink reservoir so you could try a pair of needle-nosed pliers to carefully pull it apart?

Also, have spent 10+ years working fashion retail dealig with security tags, not a klepto blush.gif

I would take it to kmart and see if they can get it off for you. Looks similar to the tags there and since you do have a receipt, I'm sure they would be helpful.

Retail employee here... If you have a strong magnet give that a go, otherwise, I have found sometimes if you repeatedly twist the device around after a while it will click open..... other than that, try taking it into another shop with your receipt, tell them what happened, im sure someone will help. Good Luck!
