I currently own a Canon SLR with various lenses plus a ~4 yo Sony Cybershot basic point & shoot.

The problem is my husband can't use the SLR to save his life. And it's also a bit bulky to carry around all the time.

I'm due to have my first later this year and would like to upgrade the Sony. I was thinking perhaps of a hybrid (fixed lens but with with auto & manual controls). This way we can both use the camera (DH using the auto & me the manual settings) and get a much better shot than the Cybershot plus be able to carry it with us easily.

I'm not really interested in the newer, compact lens systems as I've already invested in a number of the SLR lens and I don't want 2 different systems.

Can anyone recommend a hybrid or high end P&S? I'm happy to spend around $500-800.

The Canon Powershot G15. I've seen what this camera can do and it's impressive. [I don't own one sorry].
