For what it's worth, omega, my south African dh agrees with you. Blaming the black man is very convinient. Apartheid may have ended but racism is still rife.
Not so much about racism more about likelihood. It is a very violent place and people being shot and or raped, tortured and murdered in violent burglaries is unfortunately not uncommon. A national treasure shooting his partner in rage seems a lot less likely and a lot more difficult to accept. But yeah, although no one actually knows where the initial speculation came from, he wouldn't be the first person to use SA's violent backdrop as a cover up. There was the dude from England who had his wife killed while on honeymoon there. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/shrie...iorated-1708166

The point to this is before anyone jumps on the Afrikaaners are racists bandwagon you have to at least have some idea of the fear they live in. Also keep in mind that most South Africans (from one end of the colour spectrum to the other) manage to cultivate healthy relationships with many different cultures outside of South Africa.
As a side note none of this is a defense of Oscar P. Simply to most of us, his being capable of such a crime is like Mandela being capable of such a crime - nobody wants to believe it.
