Hi all,

I am going camping over the weekend for a few days, and was wondering which brand of bread (supermarket variety) seems to stay fresh the longest? I usually purchase the bakery variety, but it usually goes stale by the following day.

Anybody have any favourites, or suggestions for keeping the bread fresher?

TIA

Coles home brand in red and blue pack or red and pink lasts pretty much a week before it goes yuk.
The one in white pack about the same just dosent start as soft

We use Helgas and I find it is generally pretty fresh until 3-4 days after purchasing - just make sure you check the tag and it has 5 days on it. If you're going somewhere that you can have a campfire could you take the ingredients to make damper? Yum

Thanks for the replies. I also love damper, and usually have it either with our main meal, or for dessert (with butter and Honey .....mmmmm).

I second the PP who said Coles brand bread. I bought a loaf of their soy linseed, and it was still soft and lovely 4 days later, and perfectly edible almost a week later.

God knows what kind of preservatives they put in there to make that happen, but I was impressed!

I find Molenberg and Tip Top 9 Grain are pretty good too.

Lawsons stays fresh for a strange amount of time - I actually stopped buying it because it was freaking me out with it's non-food-like ability to stay mould free! It would certainly last 4 days, and it's yummy. They say no preservatives...

I second the Helgas.
