Not sure if the formulation has changed or if my skin has become more sensitive but I have a visible red 'mask' around my face after wearing MAC studio fix foundation for a few hours.
I only wear MAC make up about twice a week and the last few times, it's burnt my skin quite badly.
What would be causing this?
Are there any other options or more natural make up I could try?

Ooooh, how interesting! My bestie has used MAC for ages and has had similar effect around her eyes. My fave foundations are Benefit and an American one called Invisible Skin. I also read that Estée Lauder have a new system that simulates different types of lighting and they give you some samples so they are first on my list next time I need foundation.

I use MAC foundation and at occasionally get a tingly reaction when I apply to my face. Sometimes it might be because I've used a new cleanser, scrub, treatment or moisturiser. I might get some flushing but never a burning. It also happens with other foundations I use.
Other then being related to another product you're using, something sensitivities develop to a particular product you've used with no problem prior for no apparent reason. They may have changed the formulation or may just be your skin having a bit of a hissy fit.
Personally, I'd try to cut back on all your products to just the basics for a few days (gentle cleanser, unfragranced moisturiser, basic loose powder), allow your skin to settle down and then slowly reintroduce the products. If the burning returns, stop using it and find a new product. Sometimes really basic, traditional foundations without all the wizz bang special ingredients will be better even for the short term until your skin calms down.

My sister uses MAC and no reaction has occured. I use Loreal as it has the same coverage as MAC but costs a lot less. I still use MAC finishing spray.
My gf has very sensitive skin and only uses estee lauder

It could be anything that is causing the reaction - A change in formulation if it is a new purchase or your skin has now decided to react to it. Can happen that overtime we do become sensitive to certain ingredients and suddenly we start reacting to them.
If your skin reacts that quickly and severely - see if you can get some samples of foundations.
Buy some little plastic vials from a pharmacy and go to the different cosmetic counters and ask for a foundation sample.
Go to MAC and ask them for the same colour in a different foundation and see if you can continue to use the brand but not that particular foundation if that makes sense.

Was the product brought from an actual MAC store? I know this sounds silly but for a while there knock-off MAC products were being sold in Target and they weren't even official MAC products, just labeled that way. Also, EBAY sells so much "MAC" products that are also not the real thing.
You probably did buy it at an actual MAC store but just wanted to check if you knew about the whole Target scandel and there products that were not the real thing.
Hope you sort it out soon, best of luck x
