My DH took his last breath this morning after a 9 month battle with lung cancer and emphysema. He had been hospitalised for 10 days and just lost the ability to breathe. We are currently wavering between disbelief, relief and sadness buoyed by the wonderful support from family and friends. My heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful nurses who have been so efficient, professional and kind to all of us.

I'm so sorry.

It's surely a relief to know his suffering has stopped, but it's completely and utterly devastating too.

Life's not fair, is it?

OGM, I don't have sufficient words. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your beloved husband. Lung cancer and emphysema are such cruel diseases that have taken far too many good people from us. My dad is battling the latter right now.

You & your children are in my thoughts. I hope you are surrounded by a good support network who will surround you with love and sympathy.
