Hi those of you with experience of an older child with a skateboard help!!!
I have a nine yr old boy. I have no idea which type I should get him. I want to get a decent one.
Any ideas.
He is fairly coordinated and sporty, but can tend to give up if something is too hard/tricky.
Any suggestions would be helpful

A Penny board is a safe choice.  My 9yo has one and is always chuffed to see how many of the 'cool' kids at the skate park are riding them too. They're a good size fir this age, light and easy to carry around, and seem fairly indestructible.

He's pretty unco normally but has picked it up easily enough with this board.

We bought my neice a Penny Board for her birthday.
They are over $100 in stores and Catch of the Day or Scoopon had them for $59 mid year. If you arent signed up for their emails it might pay to. Products often repeat on their and was a huge saving!

Don't ask this forum, go and ask the older boys in the skate park. Tell them your story - they won't be shy of advice. In my experience, the boys always want to help - ask them where the good skateboard shop is - they will know, then get their recommendations validated by the shop assistant. You only get good skateboard advice from the passionate kids working in the skateboard shop.

And after you've decided what to get - buy it online from overseas. You don't pay GST.

Hope this helps.
