My DS wants a RC helicopter for  xmas. There are lots of  generic ones. I thinks I saw one at Kmart for $20. Are they any good? I am happy to  spend a little more to get him a decent one. Any recommendations or ones not to get would be greatly appreciated. TIA

DH is helicopter obsessed. He has 6 of them in varying sizes.

The best ones to learn to fly with are the smallest indoor helicopters. They're about $30 when full retail price so the kmart one is probably the equivalent (haven't seen the kmart one though).

The bigger they are, the harder they are to fly. Plus flying outsides needs a lot of space so a trip to the park is in order. We get more use from our little indoor helicopter.

They only fly for a few minutes (maximum of 6 minutes) so if you can get a spare battery that's a bonus.

My suggestion would be to go to a hobby shop and have a cht to them there about one that they have spare parts in stock for as he is bound to crash it many times and you don't want to throw the whole thing out just for one little broken piece.

I know they are often far cheaper online though.
