I am going through caseload at my local hospital for this pregnancy, so have my own midwife the whole way through, however I was thinking of also using a Doula.

Has anyone ever done this?

Yes I had a home birth with midwife and doula both known throughout - two seperate roles. Caseload mid probably wont be by your side every minute once you admitted? Doula is paid by you to do what you want if that means stay with you they will! They are paid support person not involved in medical matters so focus on your comfort, hydration, walk with you to wee and massage - I dont know of any midwives doing massage - it was one of my key pain mgmt strategies combined with water.
