Hi all,
As you may or may not have seen around the site, we've launched our first ever Essential Baby Awards program. We're looking for parents' favourite products across 9 categories. Our judges have selected the finalists, and now we need mums and dads to vote. What's in it for you? Maybe a $5000 Visa debit card - one person will win it after voting. We'd love it if it was an EB member! Learn more and vote here: http://www.essential...m.au/awards2014 Good luck! (PS - feel free to share with FB/mums' group friends!) #2Posted 10 October 2014 - 01:32 PM
I've entered but I'm really disappointed, TBH.
It annoys me that I had to select a finalist in each category, despite me not even being familiar with the products for some of them (e.g. the car seats). I imagine that plenty of voters would be in the same boat for one or several categories, and arbitrarily select something just to complete the survey. Makes the whole thing a bit bogus, IMO. I get that you can't just have everyone typing in their favourites, as it would be hard to determine the most popular product if you ended up with a hundred different products. But this just seems like a marketing gimmick to me. How were the finalists selected? * Ok so I went and read about it. Sorry didn't see that info the first time around. I'm still feeling a bit cynical. *edited to add this bit above Edited by Lou-bags, 10 October 2014 - 01:34 PM. #3 Guest_EBmel_*Posted 12 October 2014 - 01:00 PM
Thanks for the feedback, Lou-bags - I'll pass it on to the Awards team.
And good luck with your entry! #4Posted 12 October 2014 - 01:04 PM
Lou-bags - I agree. I didn't realise that I had to choose from each category until I went to submit. Why on earth not just let people vote in the categories they're familiar with and be able to ignore the rest??! It wouldn't take high tech difficult survey software to allow questions to be skipped.
It makes it all completely meaningless as you now know that the 'winners' aren't necessarily going to be due to people's great experiences at all. #5Posted 12 October 2014 - 01:20 PM
I agree too! I've never even used a cloth nappy so voting for the best was pointless - I just picked the cutest name. Same for the pram and car seat. The results will mean nothing, hardly anyone would have a genuine favourite in every category. Silly survey EB!
