Mrs Jacko - I saw the FS for all the tests and she worked out the protocol and then I got handed over to the clinic. When you are cycling you deal directly with the clinic but after a failed cycle and no frosties you have to go back to the FS for review. I have thought about changing but my biggest worry is they will want to do their own tests and that will delay things even further  I'll give her one more go for the sake of continuity and then reevaluate if I have to.

Shay - we're going to try the old fashioned way too this month. It's crazy after over two years of trying I still haven't given up on the idea that it could miraculously happen. Happy road trip!

Pinki - sadly no nurses at the specialist just the receptionist and doctor.

Tracey - hope AF arrives soon. And I hope you don't have any side effects from the drugs once you start. I haven't been on those ones so can't offer any advice.

Hi ladies, just a question on your thoughts about doing a hpt before going for your blood pregnancy test? Or just doing the blood test? Or if hpt is BFN do u still go to get the bloods done? In the past I just do hpt and if BFN I don't bother with the bloods. But this cycle I have stopped doing my usual thing ie. Temping, opks and thought I would leave it all up to the FS as I was suppose to do our first IVF cycle but got cancelled due to lack of follicles. So what are your thoughts hpt vs blood test??

Tracey, sorry I'm no help there but fingers crossed you don't get any side effects.

BabyGame, I always try and stick it put for the bloods (try!!) and I usually get them done even if AF arrives before then. I think it's because the first time I had a low HCG reading. Too low to be an actual pregnancy but it now makes me wonder. I think I prefer to have a BT anyway just so I know if anything started happening at all or not. Not sure if that makes sense.

Babygame I've had too many disappointments I'm almost scared to POAS.

It sounds stupid but I don't want to tempt fate. I'm going to try really hard to stick it out this time. I think my clinic makes you do bloods even if AF turns up...

How are you going?

Thanks ladies. I think I will just do the blood test, so whatever will be will be. Not too hopeful anyway this cycle due to IVF cycle being cancelled, but you never know...

You never know! You should absolutely do the blood test.

Good luck!

I'm not going to bother testing on Monday anymore, I have AF type cramps so I am pretty sure it will be here tomorrow.
I am not normally emotional but I can't stop crying today. Why didn't it work? now I feel like maybe we should have been doing tests after egg retrieval and before transplant and after transplant, how do we know if it failed because of my lining? or maybe hormones? or any other reason?

I told myself that the first time was just a test but when you go through so much to get here, the injections, the retrieval, seeing the little embryo, the hope of it all it's just shattering.

We were meant to have dinner at the inlaws tonight but DH has gone without me because I'm crying :(

MrsJacko- sorry u are feeling sad today, but u aren't out yet til AF arrives. I always have a bottle of wine waiting in the fridge when AF is due, ready to go, breaks the fall when AF arrives. You also have some frozen embryos to use next cycle so that's good. Sending u a big hug! Be kind to yourself.

Oh MrsJ that is very sad to hear. Our first cycle failed and we've found it very hard. The trouble with the meds we are on is that we get so many confusing symptoms, combined with all our hopes and dreams and that makes for an emotional rollercoaster. It's been a couple of weeks and I still feel IVF obsessed and very stressed about our future prospects.

Maybe POAS to confirm that the cramps are AF? Maybe also check with your FS whether a BT can answer any of your above questions?

When AF arrived, I felt a bit better by ringing my FS and booking a follow up appointment so that we could get going with cycle 2 ASAP.  My way of coping is to do something and that was the best I could come up with. I think you've got some blasts on ice, so hopefully your next ET can be sooner rather than later.

I hope you find a way to relax and take your mind off this outcome. At the same time tears are cleansing and you've been through so much, so just be gentle on yourself. Mindfulness (heaps on the net) might be helpful too - even going for a walk and just focusing on your feet touching the ground and your other senses might help take your mind away from your thoughts for a second - as I imagine your mind is racing. Plus take it easy and spoil yourself as best you can. My DH has also found it upsetting, so we've leant on each other a lot.

Lots of hugs, G.

Thank you Gagingi, I'm too early to POAS anyway and I am certainly a rollercoaster today, maybe it's the crinone?
I hope it's the crinone.

My beta is on Wednesday but how I feel today I don't have high hopes.

oh and how annoying is it eating as if we are already preg when we might not be. I just want pizza!

MrsJ, sorry to hear you are so down. As others have said, it's not over yet! I have my fingers and toes crossed for you.

AFM, I had my EPU this morning. At my last scan I had about 30 follies, but this time we used Lucrin as the trigger. Get out of EPU to find out they got 7. SEVEN!! What the heck! Can't get my head around they at all.

Last time 60% fertilised 21) and of those, only 3 made it to day 5 (then we lost one). At those rates, I'll end up with nothing!!

Last night and this morning I felt pretty crappy. Now, after EPU I feel a lot better than last time (which isn't hard to do) but have quite a lot of pain, particularly on my right side all the way up to my ribs and shoulder. Hopefully this isn't the start of something!

Should find out tomorrow how they're going. Sigh...

TCCC, try not to compare last cycle with this one, I had 5 retrieved and 3 fertilised to day 5.
its not the number its the quality, and your quality may be better this time with fewer eggs

#63 Gagingi

Posted 05 June 2015 - 04:33 PM

TCCC - I hope all is okay with you. As MrsJ said, with less eggs you might get better quality. That's what my FS said to me too. Fingers crossed both for you and the embies.

MrsJ - crinone gave me awful cramps and all crinone symptoms got progressively worse over 13 days. I hate the stuff. Hang in there!

#65 TCCC

Posted 05 June 2015 - 04:42 PM

Thanks all. I just don't get how I went from 30 follies (this cycle - four days ago) to 7 retrieved! What the. If anyone has had a Lucrin trigger and can shed any light, I'd be happy to hear it.

Wondering how bloated everyone got after EPU? I've only done one stim cycle before this and got OHSS so was massively huge. Not really sure what is considered 'normal' so I can keep an eye on things.

#66 mrsJacko

Posted 05 June 2015 - 05:57 PM

TCCC I know it gets your hopes up when you see a large number of follies but it really has nothing to do with how many eggs you will get.
You are very lucky to get 7, I hope they are strong ones :)

TCCC- I'm sorry you're disappointed with your number of eggs retrieved. My first cycle I looked to have at least 18 follies a few days before on the scan and I only got 3 eggs, with only one fertilising. I was extremely disappointed. But 7 is a great number that's what I was aiming for this cycle.

Mrs- don't give up hope yet. Hopefully it is the crinone making you emotional. But even if it's not that don't beat yourself up about it. This whole IVF thing is so difficult to go through. Let yourself be upset. And even if you think AF has arrived call your clinic they may bring your BT earlier like mine did. Mine was a BFN but the next day I was in having the long lasting Elonva injection and starting cycle 2!

AFM - I had my EPU yesterday and they got 26 eggs! I couldn't believe it. I didn't even feel as bloated before like last time when they only got 3.
I'm feeling quite yucky today. Im on OHSS watch. The nurses will call me everyday to see how I'm going. 16 of the eggs fertilized. So I'm pretty happy. I'm testament that after the lowest of lows last week that things can turn around and get better.

Mrs J - I'm not on it but crinone sounds diabolical. hopefully that's what has caused your cramps. Look after yourself and eat pizza. That's what I'm doing, eating pizza... Take care x

TCCC - 7 is great. Quality not quantity! Fingers crossed for the fertilization!

Animal! Goodness that's amazing! Congratulations!

Hey ladies

MrsJaco- sorry to hear you are feeling low today. It's hard, such a roller coaster ride. I remember analyzing every twitch and twinge and spent way to much time on dr Google. Cramping can also be a sign of implantation so chin up. It's not over yet! You are still to soon to test so hang in there. PUPO

TCCC-maybe there was so many follies after having OHSS. Just means that you are a good responder to the meds. I remember them telling me that some of mine were empty. It's normal and they don't know till they get in there.  7 is still a great number! Thats the range I believe they like to have. I got 8 my last round and they were happy with that. It's all quality not quantity. Sending positive vibes your way and hoping they all for fertilize. I would be thrilled with 7 eggs:)

Animal- wow congrats that's a great number, especially the fertilization rate! Are you going to try for a 3 or 5 day transfer? Can't wait to hear how many you end up banking. I think I would feel like I won the lottery if I have some to bank ( and got a BFP of course)!

Kitty- when are you doing your transfer?

Gagingi- sorry about your failed cycle. It's such a blow. Where are you at in the process? Thinking of a second? I know it's little comfort but I do think they do learn quite a bit from the firsts go. I also may be a bit easier the next time as having been through it before and not feeling quite as overwhelming as the first.

Tracey- I was on ovidrel ( progesterone) for my FET. I don't remember feeling so bad on it. At least no where near as bad as I did after stiming and after EPU but I did feel down in the dumps. How much was the meds and how much was the failed fresh cycle I'm not sure. it's great that you are getting to do a FET. Best of luck !

Baby game- I would wait and maybe do BT. That's just me, I may be worried that some of the meds could still be in my system and give me a false positive.

Hope I didn't miss

AF just arrived so I guess that's my first failed cycle. So of course I'm crying again.

Do I need to call my clinic tomorrow?
I don't know how a frozen cycle works or if they want me to have a month off.

#71 BabyGame

Posted 06 June 2015 - 05:18 PM

MrsJacko- so sorry AF arrived. Do something nice for yourself. Some wine, watch a movie whatever makes u feel a bit better.

Just a question does anyone not got AF until u stop the progesterone? This happens to me, AF doesn't show up until 4 days after I stop taking it. Which kinda sux cos just makes the cycle even longer, when u know there's no bfp.

#72 mrsJacko

Posted 06 June 2015 - 05:23 PM

Babygame Im still on the progesterone so no it doesn't stop my AF

#73 TCCC

Posted 06 June 2015 - 05:39 PM

Sorry to hear MrsJ. Let it out!! I'm not sure about whether you need a month off after stimming. Might also depend if you FET is natural (no meds at all).

Pinki, thanks I know I should be happy with 7 but oh well. My change in numbers were due to the different trigger.

#74 Kitty_M

Posted 06 June 2015 - 06:07 PM

Sorry to hear that Mrs Jacko. Poor love. Get a nice bottle of wine and treat yourself to whatever you want to eat.

Definitely call your clinic tomorrow to discuss. My FS said today that if my cycle fails I can go straight to a FET. There shouldn't be a reason why not?

Look after yourself hon x

Pinki my transfer was today so I'm in the 2ww now...!

#75 Gagingi

MrsJ - sorry to hear AF showed up. I'd ring the clinic as I think they vary about whether they want BT or not. At the same time you'd be able to ask about booking in FET? My FS receptionist was very helpful with guiding me through the next step.  I hope you can spoil yourself over the next few days and tears are cleansing!

Babygame - AF just does what it wants with me, so arrives regardless of progesterone.  Sorry to hear it makes your cycle longer.

AFM - just waiting for AF to start our next cycle. Fingers crossed.
