Here we go.....

It's possible that I'm almost as excited by watching the results as I am about knowing when I go to work on Monday I won't have to run the gauntlet of how to vote people at the prepolling place on the ground floor of my building.  I've been dodging them for weeks and knocking over the odd placard as I weave through the melee.

Polls have closed.  Let the counting begin.

I'm watching it! I'm 34 years old and this is the first time I've watched it :)

Not watching it on TV, but have FB, EB, Twitter, The Guardian and the ABC tabs all open on my laptop.  There is wine and there are pies.

Oh, and I have to try and be asleep by 10, gotta be at work at 6am tomorrow, so count fast, minions, count FAST!

Totally glued here!

I always feel quite emotional when I vote.....

Regardless of problems, I'm proud of Australia,
I'm proud of our democracy,
I'm proud of compulsory voting,
I'm proud to be a woman who can vote.
I love that the people's voice is heard.
Just so, so, proud — always an emotional day for me.
I think it means more to me the older I get.
I recollect when travelling or living in other countries, the many who have broken down with us and cried, lamenting their lack of democracy.

Not sure. Usually I watch the ABC but I'm not sure my Antony Green love can overcome my dislike of Leigh Sales. Also I'm expecting a Turnbull win and I don't know if I have the heart for it.

I'm watching much to the disgust of my DH, with cheap wine and takeaway at some point.  I've been relegated to watching on the iPad though.

I feel I should say for a treat I have wine and chocolate in for it but why change a  Saturday night habit of a lifetime - it is good to be consistent

I'm unreasonably excited.  Especially given that I'm convinced that the libs will retain it.

But how much margin will they lose?
Will the senate throw up some surprises.  How much will I laugh if Malcolm "double dissolution for stability" gets handed a few left wing crazies.  Surely after putting up with Bob Day and David Ley.... the guy from the liberal democrats, it's about time someone from the animal rights party or the socialist alliance got a nod.

And most importantly will any high profile libs lose their seats?

Dammit.

I've got the AEC Tally Room open on my computer and they haven't called it yet.

Polls closed 12 minutes ago.  Pull ya finger out!

Wonder if the National Tally Room is still over at the showground.  I could go over there.  I haven't been for years....

ETA:  They killed the Tally Room?  Sad face.

We are on holidays.  Made sure we were staying somewhere with reception,  finished the bush walking early and snughled down in front of the fire with 2 kidults who are more excited than we are.  Definitely ABC,  what's an election without Antony?

We are watching. On ABC of course.

Quietly concerned that tonight won't turn out the way I want it to :(

Polls haven't closed in the west and I don't think they're allowed to start broadcasting results until all polling booths close in case it changes the way people vote.

Badcat, national tally room closed a few elections ago. I think the last one held was when Bob Brown won his seat.

It's funny how the ABC Australia Votes website already has three seats called but the AEC has none.  Why is that?  Maybe because the ABC doesn't have to be careful because it's not official...

Makes sense I suppose.

But since the numbers are available all over the place it probably doesn't matter that much.

I have a child free night. The Indian takeaway is ordered, the wine and chocolate have been purchased. I'm now settled in on the couch for the night, courtesy of ABC and EB.

They are up to 8 seats but 0.0% counted.... very strange. Where do I find what seats they think it is?
