Kitty- my nausea looked like it was easing but I had a bad day with it today. It is such a terrible feeling! I hope you get some relief.

Appletree- 10 weeks. Woohoo!! I hadn't thought to check out bras n things for maternity bras. That's a good tip. I'll check it out. It sounds like a few of us want surprises when it comes to gender :)

Terfl- I'm so happy your scan went well and u saw bubs moving. How sweet!

Clover- the meat aisle is the worst! I wonder why we all seem to suddenly go off meat?

Thanks I am hoping for twins. I have been seeing girl twins everywhere in books and on TV. There's 2 boy names and 1 girl name my husband and I picked out.

I have been craving all the wrong kinds of foods. I want indian food. There's a really nice place near me but I won't get anything from a bain marie.

This pregnancy has been very different from my others.

Hi Terfl! Yep I had my scan and bloods yesterday too (good memory!). Scan was awesome...we got a little wave 😍
Had bloods done too....mine weren't called "harmony". It was called Percept which tests for Downs, Edwards and Patau syndromes $480. And I got another one called Prepair which tests for cystic fibrosis and a few others $380.
Very expensive but because of our history and my age (37) we decided to do it.

Happy to hear a lot of you are also off meat and I'm not alone! How weird eh? I'm such a carnivore that it's crazy I can't stand to be in the same room as steak now!!

Thinking of checking out target today for some maternity jeans as mine are getting pretty uncomfortable now. Boobs are also sore so might check out mat bras while I'm there.

Oh and we're not finding out the sex either. I want DH to be the one to tell me what it is 😍

I'm loving meat right now. I'm having it every day and lots of it. Can't stand the raw meat smell, though.

I need to get new bras too.

I found out the gender for some of my pregnancies but not with the one before this. I am keeping it a surprise as I enjoyed that a lot more.

Have you guys told anyone yet?

EJ- a wave! 😍 How adorable. I haven't heard of the Percept test but that all sounds nice and comprehensive. What is the wait time line for results with that one? You'll love maternity jeans. I started wearing mine last week and I can't possibly imagine putting on a normal pair now. Although my little bloat belly is more obvious in them.

Mummymustard- how funny that you're the opposite and you want meat more than normal. I wonder what it is that makes us go on/off meat. At least you're getting lots of protein and iron. I'm worried that I'm missing out coz I can't stomach it. My vitamins have iron but Ive gotta consider how I'll get more protein in. We've told our mums and a handful of our closest friends each. There's only one friend that DH has told that didn't know we were trying. The others had been the ones who supported us through our ttc journey. DHs mum didn't know we were trying either. We are telling the rest of our immediate families in 2 weekends time which is 3 days before we will be 12weeks. After that we'll message a few more close friends/ family that don't live close and I think we'll just tell people as we see them. We'll hold off from an announcement as such until a bit later. What are you thinking of doing?

I'm thinking I'll head off to target now for some new bras. I have no idea what size I'll need. I might take loads of sizes and try them all lol.

MummyMustard, how many kids have you got?

EJ, mine wasn't called Harmony either. It's just the brand name, but from what you said it's testing for the same things. They said they'll call me with the results next Friday or Monday after.

I've got my 12 wks appointment with OB on the 15th and i thought he was doing the structural scan on the same day but at the ultra sound place yesterday they explained that my referral included the structural scan and i will need to book in with them again and it will take 40 min. They  suggested to book around the 22nd, which is a bit disappointing as i wanted to surprise my mum on her bday, the 15th, with the baby news. Guess I'll have to get a real pressie now :)
I was also going to take DP to the OB appointment as he hasn't be able to come to any of the scans yet but now I'm wondering if it's even worth it. Have you been taking your DHs to every appointment?

KJI I should get the downs results next Wednesday but the others take longer. My OB just said if they're ok I won't hear from them.
Chickened out of buying maternity clothes today πŸ˜” Just didn't know where to start. Looked at the bras but didn't know what size to get? Like surely I'll get bigger so no point buying one until I get bigger? And they only had size 14 up in jeans and I'm a 12 (well normally! Haha!)

Oh Terfl you're so lucky you're doing a 12 wk scan. My OB wants to wait til 13w!!! So I'm not seeing her til 23rd 😫 We're waiting til the 12 week scan to tell our families but I want to have the scan pic so now we'll have to wait til 13!!
I have 2 pics already but they're obvs not as clear and detailed as the next one will be.

What's the structural scan?

And yep DH has been to the last 2 scans and will come to the next. I think though it's because of our history. We found out at our second scan last time that id miscarried so the memories of going in are quite scary. But after the 12 (well 13w scan) I don't think he'll come to all the appointments.

EJ, I'm in the same boat, my appointments are exactly as yours. I won't have another scan until week 13, it's the NT scan (nuchal translucency scan), they also call it anatomy scan on my info sheet. The scans are done in this Ultrasound for Women place, not at my OB. I think I got all confused because he said he wanted to see me at 12 weeks so I assumed he was doing the scan. He does have an US machine in his office but I think it might be a bit more basic.

I said to DP that I really wanted him to come to the next appointment but if we're not getting to see the baby at the OB on the 15th, I'd rather wait and take him to the scan place on the 22nd. The image quality there is so much better as well.

The results sound fast ladies. That's great. I have my harmony test next Saturday morning.

Bummer you couldn't get any mat clothes EJ. I ended up trying on a couple of different bras and was comfortable in a size up in both cup and band. They fit me now nicely but no doubt I'll need new ones again as I grow more. I just got a black and a beige. They were only $15 each. I also got a 3 pack of witefree crops for sleeping in for $25. They have more stretch and will last me a while longer than the others.

DH came to our dating scan and our first OB appointment as we were having a quick scan in his office to check everything was ok. The admin ladies actually told DH he doesn't need to come to future ones. They said just to go to the official scans offsite at the ultrasound place. So I have an OB app at 12 weeks he won't come to but then at 12+3 we have a 3D 12 week scan so he's coming to that :)

That is quite unprofessional and rude of the office ladies to say that to your DH. I'd be furious! Good lucknfor your 12 week appointment and scan Posted Image

Mummymustard I'm the same....give me meat....and carba lol

I found some good crop.tops and t shirts bra at kmart. Think they were like  $5. So  comfy and supportive.

Hope everyone is having a beautiful pregnancy to date x

KJI, I'll probably do the same then - take DP to the 13 wks scan but not to the OB appointment. Think that will be much more interesting for him as well.
Did you think it was rude when the admin ladies said that? CAS - it sounded like they just wanted to be helpful?
I've been so unsure about when to take DP and don't want to waste his time either or end up feeling awkward that I've brought him. Mind you, he's away for work so often that it hasn't worked out so far anyway.
When I booked in for the NIPT test I had asked the ladies if I should bring him and they said it wasn't a big scan and there wasn't going to be a photo etc but it was up to me. Because I was so nervous I did want him to come in the end but he couldn't and when I told him how amazing it was, he was pretty sad and definitely wants to come to the next one.

Hi ladies-

Well at only 6wks I caved and bought maternity clothes from Kmart! Yep I know TOTALLY ridiculous!!
I usually wake up feeling good but am exhausted by the afternoon and feel disgusting.

Don't get me wrong I'm thrilled to be pregnant but wow I'm feeling it this time round. I just cannot remember feeling this crap- so have put it down to 1 of 2 things... my age (37) it's been a looong time between drinks (youngest is 6) or it's twins.
I have my first OB app this coming Fri @7wks- so will find out if there is more than 1 bun cooking.

How is everybody planning to deliver?
My 1st was VB, 2nd elective C & 3rd VBAC.
About 4yrs ago I fell pregnant and planned a home water birth then went on to MC. This time I'm thinking another elective- I seriously can not imagine going through labour feeling like this!

What does everyone think they are having? And did anybody try for a specific gender?
I did shettles method for my first two with success. Then predicted our surprise 3rd going off Shettles timings. This time we tried for another girl but in saying that due to husbands travel- I think it's going to be border line.

I am definitely more concerned about my 'old eggs' this pregnancy and possible problems with bubs, therefore am doing the harmony and any thing else that is recommended to me. Although really don't feel comfortable with 'invasive' testing- so will cross that bridge if I have to.

Best wishes to all the mummas having scans next wk!! Xx

$5! Cas that's awesome. I should have looked harder before I went and got some. Although laziness probably would have won anyway as target is close to me and Kmart is a few suburbs away lol.

Terfl- in the receptionists defence she did try to phrase it nicely. She just said to DH that he'll love the scans at the other place because you see a lot more but there's not much at the OB appointments that he really needs to be witness too. I really wanted him to come to the first one to meet the OB and know where it was I'd be going each time. I was already thinking he'd probably skip the others unless something big was booked in. He is a subcontractor so doesn't get paid when he takes a day off so that impacts our decision too as all specialist appointments seem to be right in the middle of a week day lol. It might be nice for your DH to meet your OB this time (if he hasn't already). I think it must be common for DHs to go at the start then taper off coz the waiting room had a few ladies much further along without their DHs there. Each to their own I think :)

4 Springlets- I'm sorry you're feeling so unwell. I hope it picks up for you. I definitely felt the worst in terms of bloating and exhaustion from 4-6 weeks. Then that got a bit better but the nausea kicked in. Some days I don't get many symptoms just randomly so I hope u get some relief too. I've always wanted to have a successful VB but as it's my first I'm staying open minded coz you never know what might be needed on the day. As my midwife said "no birth plan is the best birth plan". I don't think that means "don't even think about it" I think it just means to be open minded and be ready to change your expectations based on how your labour goes. I'm a big planner normally so I needed to hear that. In terms of gender I don't really know yet. I've had success guessing lots of family and friends babies but I haven't had a definite answer to my thinking one way or the other yet. For a long time I've thought I'd have a boy first but I keep seeing pink everywhere!

Thanks ladies for all your support. I'm unfortunately out of this group now, the light bleeding has stepped up to slightly heavier than a period in the last 24 hours and I've been passing clots. I'm basically waiting for yesterdays HCG test to confirm a drop in numbers to make it official but I already know my miracle baby is gone.

It was a nice couple of weeks being in this group but once again life has shown me this path is not meant for me to walk. Guess I'll go back to planning my wedding next October and I guess there's no need to worry about not fitting in my dress after all.

Your support has meant the world to me as some family members have been less than caring about this whole process. It's true about the kindness of strangers, you ladies are amazing. Thankyou ❀

Oh kee I am so sorry :( that's truly not fair. I really hope and pray you get your miracle baby. Take care of yourself and good luck with planning your wedding xx

Oh Kee, I'm so sorry! The good thing however is that you actually can get pregnant and even though it didn't work out this time, this doesn't mean you won't fall pregnant again. There are so many women here who had losses before, myself included. Look after yourself and try to distract yourself with the wedding and try again in a few months. All the best for you! X

Took 10 years of TTC and 7 years of failed IVF to get here and this natural conception was an absolute bloomin' miracle. I don't hold a lot of hope it'll happen again any time soon but we're just going to fill our lives with other positive things and not worry about it 😊

In regards to taking husband to ob appts - last pregnancy he came to every ob appt (as ob does a scan each visit) which meant he came to every second appt because I did the midwifery group practice at the private hospital on alternate appts. This was great as the midwife appts were free & I got to know the maternity ward & some of the midwives & wasn't as expensive as seeing ob for each & every appt.
Not sure this time around how frequent he'll come as he's quite busy with work but he'll definitely attend the 12w & 20w scan.
I had a boy last time though I had my heart set on a girl (momentary disappointment then five seconds later I got over it πŸ˜‚) & this time I actually don't mind (we won't be finding out) what it will be.
Last time I had vb with epidural (bliss!) & this time hoping for another vb maybe without epidural but will be ready & willing to have one if all too much.
Still no symptoms whatsoever apart from bloating. I'm not off any food at all & still going strong with my one latte a day πŸ‘πŸΌβ˜•οΈ
