So after 8months of trying, using Clear Blue OPK I am biting the bullet and seeing a GP tomorrow for a referral to a fertility specialist.
Will the GP just refer me, or do some tests first. I don't have time on my side!!! lol what can I expect from a fertility specialist?

Hello! Good one you for taking the next step.
My experience was that GP just referred and left it to FS. We had an initial appointment, had bloods and DH had a semen analysis. Our medical history meant that our first stop was ICSI (IVF) so he gave us info about that, but I would say that they will talk you through options. Once your results are back, he/she will go through your best chances.
I really hope you don't need it, but feel free to swing by Ready Set Girls if you end up in IVF town.
I find our FS to be incredibly kind and supportive. Really knows his stuff!

Just wanted to say 'jinx'! - I made an appointment today too (with a specialist GP at a fertility clinic).
I have been putting it off for ages (scared I guess) but now I feel so relieved that I have finally made the call!
I don't know what to expect either, but looking forward to getting some more info

thanks ladies. yes I kept putting it off too! I have 2 kids, surely I won't need it well, I am older I guess!
Just got to keep moving forward, right.
thanks for your replies!

Mine did bloods first, AMH, basically ovarian reserve, gives an idea of number, not quality, of eggs left. It ended up being low, so got my referral second appointment. It was secondary infertility for me but long story short it all worked out in the end. Happy to answer any questions if it would be helpful about the process I went through.
It is probably useful for you to know which specialist you want referred to as well. Take care

I have my referral, the GP faxed it straight off. I haven't heard from the FS office yet but I am going to chase it tomorrow. I have no idea of how much of a wait list there is for an apt!

oh my goodness - 2 month wait for a fs! I really ought to have listened and did this 6months ago!
I am going to the GP to see if I can start some tests/scans. Maybe that amh one and a scan?
I have a feeling I am too late. I hope its just a crazy negative thought and not real

How old are you OP?
Hopefully it's something easily resolved... yes good idea to start things with the GP now to save time later.
Also ask FS if you can go on their waiting list.
And ask dr to refer you to another FS to see if they are available sooner?
