My 9 year old who is a bit funny about how clothes feel is about to grow out of her yoga pants and I would really like to make some for her.
These yoga pants are from bestnless are wide legged in a stretch knit material with a wide fold down yoga waist. I think they are fairly hideous but she loves them.
I'm hoping some sewing peeps can tell me if they know of a pattern I can follow and tell me whether I am mad to attempt this without an overlocker?

I'm not an experienced seamstress (?) at all but I know from my mum not to go near any stretchy fabric without an overlocker.
I've seen those yoga pants in best and less a lot (and they look so comfy!). What a pity they don't go up to bigger sizes!
Hope someone has a good suggestion for you. One of my DSs hates growing out of t-shirts so we now have a ridiculous number of pillows with old t-shirts as pillow cases! (Pinned not sewn!)

Overlockers are definitely the best for stretch fabrics especially a very stretchy stretch like yoga pants. You can sometimes get away with sewing them with the fabric under a slight stretch as you sew each seam, with a slight zigzag stitch, and with the bobbin wound with stretch woolly nylon thread. (You need to hand wind the bobbin.)
This should work OK if your DD likes yoga pants that are not too tight. If she likes them like really tight leggings, then the seams are under a lot more tension when she does yoga, and would be better overlocked. If you sew at all, overlockers are very useful. I've got quite a basic one, and it's definitely paid for itself.
