Hi, I am thinking of joining Doterra but I am not sure if I have to declare the earnings to newstart? I currently work 16 hours per week in paid employment.

How does party plan earnings affect newstart benefits?

It's all income so you should report it. Not sure how you'd go about it though as it doesn't really pay by the hour.

That's what annoys me, I've heard party plan consultants pitching it as tax-free income when it's not - it all has to be declared to the ATO and Centrelink. Technically you may not be taxed on it if it's a low amount but that doesn't really gel with their pitch of cars, luxury holidays and cash to splash, does it?

Do your research.

Doterra is a hard slog to make money and you have to continually recruiting new members under you to make money.

And yes you have to declare the income, if you do make any. It will affect your Centrelink.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I only really want to join go get the discount and maybe sell the odd thing to my friends. Probably not worth the stress of doing it if I have to declare it as income.

I just joined to get the discount too. I don't sell it, never had any intention too and refuse to now. It annoys the people above me but too bad!

If people want stuff, I just buy it on my account so they get the discount and they chuck in a couple of bucks for shipping :)
