Birdie I'm going Public.

All the request forms just came from my GP. With the NIPT my GP told me to do it at 10.5 weeks :/

Hey Birdie and Sweetpea - NT and NIPT are different - I think NIPT is like the Harmony test which is 10 wks and NT is the US for Downs at 12-14 wks? I have my GP appt tomorrow morning and I expect to have all these relevant tests booked in over the next few weeks also.. 8w4d for me today and still no MS..!

Oh yes quite right Cloey. I misread I think. Where I am going for the BT (Harmony test) at 10weeks, they call it the NEST test. I wish the test didn’t have so many different names. And then the NT at 12 weeks is the US. 😊

Oh lucky you with no MS!! My nausea has calmed a little. So now I get a few hours here and there without feeling sick, which is lovely.

I had my scan today. Baby should be 7w but only measuring 6w4d and no heartbeat. The only hope I have is that she couldn't see very well as it was sitting up high in my uterus and she struggled to see it. Will have another scan on Monday but I don't have much hope.

I hope all is OK and just tricky to see Jackrabbit.

My baby is sitting very high as well, apparently right at the top and the FS who scans all day every day had difficulty seeing too much clearly as well because they're so small right now and when they're at the top they're also so far away!  Fingers crossed for Monday's scan.

I hope you get better news at your next scan Jackrabbit.

I am feeling so rundown and sick! I’ve had a cold/chest infection for a week and it doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. I’ve tried so hard not to spew today and have actually had diahorrea today also. Wondering if these are all normal symptoms or if I have a bug also? I really just feel like a truck has hit me 😫😫

Oh Jackrabbit I so hope it was just a tricky bean hiding! I did hear it can be hard to see HB before 7 weeks.. I was 7w4d at my scan and could just see a little fluttery HB.

Gootza I've also had a little of the runs - only mild but over a few days and I'm fairly sure it's not what I'm eating.. Think it's hormone thing - they slow down or speed up the digestive process which can cause either constipation or diarrhoea.. Unpleasant but I'm choosing to see it as normal!!

Wish there was more evidence of being preggsies because it still feels like this huge secret, even though all our immediate family now knows!

I wouldn't write it off just yet Jackrabbit. It could be you implated late and they just can't hear the heartbeat yet?

I just googled and they said heartbeat between 6 - 7 weeks so maybe it's just too early.

How are you feeling?

Fingers crossed for you.

I doubt I implanted late as I had a strong BFP at 10dpo. Used OI so definite on dates. I'm holding on to hope that it was just poor visibility. I couldn't get a scan for Monday so now I have to wait until Wed.

Just over 12 months ago I had a m/c where my 7w ultrasound showed baby measuring behind with a slow heartbeat. It took two more scans for the heart to have actually stopped. It's feeling a bit like deja vu.

I'm trying to think of all the reasons why having a baby at this stage of my life was a mistake. It's not helping.

Thinking of you too Jackrabbit. And Birdie - so relieved!!

Ladies, can someone help me out with the first trimester screening options? I am so confused!!!! Am aware that I can get testing around 12 weeks, but there seem to be so many different versions, or perhaps just different names for the same tests?! From what I can tell (please correct me if i'm wrong), I can get a blood test and a nuchal translucency scan. Or i can get the harmony test, which is just a blood test, but is more accurate. Correct??

Oh Jackrabbit, you posted as I was writing my message. How awful for you to have had this happen before. No wonder you're expecting the worst. I don't know what to say, but try to hold out some hope until you know for sure. Easier said than done though, i know.

Jackrabbit maybe you need to spoil yourself a little bit this weekend? Take your mind off it - even if it is for an hour.

poppy, the NT scan is not just for downs syndrome and really should not be replaced by the harmony (NIPT/NEST/etc.) test.  The 12 week (NT) scan looks at a lot of structural things that the harmony test cannot tell you.

The harmony test is an extra test you can get that has very good accuracy for a few genetic issues.  You can have that test from 10 weeks onward.  It is not covered by medicare and costs around $400-500 depending on where you are.

Jackrabbit- oh that must be so scary. I hope it all turns out for you next wed.

Sweet.Pea- I’m getting the harmony blood test at 10 weeks ($450, not medicate covered, also called different names at different places. My testing place call it the NEST). Then I’m getting the NT scan at 12weeks which checks that everything with baby is normal and to check for genetic disorders like DS etc. The 10weeks bloood year isn’t necessary but helps to provide more accurate results when teamed with the 12week scan. Because of my age and IVF I will be doing all available screening. My sister did not do the blood test as she did not want to be forced to make any decisions she wasn’t prepared to make. It’s a personal choice. The NT scan is one that everyone does. Also, re:sugar. I am actually off sugar, including sugar from fruit and veg. All I want is carbs carbs carbs!!! Hehe

Well described Birdie!

I just had my follow-up GP appointment after my dating scan and I'm now booked in for my Harmony test (15th Dec - 10w6d - cost $445 - they will do a quick scan beforehand to make sure there is a still a heartbeat eek!) and my NT scan, which my GP called the Structural scan (29th Dec - 12w6d).

Then after that is the 18-20wk scan.

Glad to have them scheduled in! All these appts is tricky with work, trying not to let on what's going on, so thinking of telling fibs like I've got someone coming round to fix the plumbing at home or something

Poor DH misses out on all of them due to his job overseas. He's home right now so got to come to my appt this morning so he's happy to have his head around what's coming up for me.

Almost 9 weeks! Time suddenly feels like it's flying!

Birdie - so happy about your good news.  I hope you can relax a little   And also thank you alot for your explanation on the scans/tests.  I was getting confused with them all!

Jackrabbit - I have everything crossed for your scan on Monday, they are so teeny tiny right now.. I bet Monday will come around and you'll get a nice heartbeat! I'll be thinking of you.

Cloey - we seem to having the exact same pregnancy! haha - I am also 8+5 today (9 weeks on Saturday), no MS! I feel a little queezy between 6pm - 8pm. I'm eating like theres no tomorrow, peeing about 5 times during the night, oh and yesterday the boobs + nipples got super sensitive! Eeeeek. Thats a new symptom for me.

I've just booked in my Harmony NIPT test @ Qld Ultrasound for Woman - i mostly chose them because they do a bulk billed scan immediately prior to the blood test and i'm so desperate to see that there is still a heartbeat inside me :omg:

Cloey- we are having our Harmony and NT scan on the same dates! Haha!! I’m having my done in Chatswood. How about you? Shame your DH is out of town a lot. Is he able to FaceTime into some appointments??

Thanks BabyBass! Oh I know the feeling of wanting to know about the heartbeat. I wish we had a flashing light on our tummy or something. Haha!

I’ve decided not to work the rest of term. I had a beautiful year 4 class today but I felt really horrid all day, threw up once (had to run out of assembly) and just felt like I couldn’t give them my best. So cancelled my other casual days and will just chill out for the next couple of months. Hehe!! I know I may sound like a bit of a sook, but I just feel like if I don’t have to work, there’s no point forcing myself to. I can’t wait - one more week til we see our baby again. I’m interested to see if it is still bigger than its gestation.

My sister explained it better to me yesterday. I am stil 8+1. And the baby is still at the correct developmental phase, no advanced past that, it’s just that it’s bigger (dimension wise) than it’s gestation. So technically it’s measuring as big as a baby that is 8+6. Fingers croaaes that slows down a bit- it will need to get out at some point. Hehe

BabyBass I know we are total pregnancy buddies! Yay us! (And yay to my right ovary, so said my US technician!)

Birdie exciting! Mine are at Ultrasound Care at Bondi Junction - it's the one my GP recommended and convenient for me for home/work. They also do the Harmony test in house so everything is under one roof which is awesome..

My sister had her babies over the north side of Sydney a few years ago at RNS private. Amazing how fast technology proceeds- she didn't have access to Harmony test when she had my nieces and they are only 3 and 5!

I have had a wobbly tummy last few days and nausea only hits on the long train station escalators for me so feels like Motion sickness.. Otherwise still feeling pretty normal over here! I don't doubt MS will hit soon, and feel for all you ladies going through it already - BLERG!

Just in case any ladies are on the Gold Coast, Paradise Ultrasound only costs $90 for a scan... unlike QScan which cost me $240!

They are specialist obstetric ultrasound specialists. Wish I had known about them a few months ago.

Love reading these posts, thanks ladies :)

How is everyone going?

Had our first scan today. Measuring 7w 2d and heart rate is 144. Go to listen which was pretty cool. A little behind the 8w but I do have longer cycles so nothing to worry about.
