I have a ball coming up in under a month and I need a dress.
I have tried: City chic Asos Modcloth Eloquii Kiyonna Yours The Iconic The dress must be full length. I am a city chic size L so not a small plus size. And I am a bit fussy. A lot of what I have seen is very old ladyish with high necklines, box shapes, high necklines and covering the arms at all costs. Does anyone have any suggestions? I fell in love with a dress from Asos but it sold out before I snapped it up and nothing in CC has thrilled me enough to want to drop a couple of hundred. Thanks xx #2Posted 25 May 2018 - 04:34 PM
Probably a bit late now but check out eshakti - everything can be customised from measurements to necklines/sleeve lengths/etc.

Aliexpress.
They have plenty of plus sized evening gowns and all the things I’ve ordered lately have taken about 2 weeks. The quality may not be wonderful, but what I’ve ordered has been pretty good and very cheap. Just make sure you check the size chart and if in doubt, go up a size. #4Posted 25 May 2018 - 05:00 PM
I forgot to mention eshakti. I looked there but I stuggle imagining the dress redesigned and then on me.
I am always a little dubious of aliexpress. I will have a look tho #5Posted 25 May 2018 - 05:00 PM #6Posted 25 May 2018 - 05:03 PM
I have not ordered from Promgirl, but I know friends who have for their daughters formals - I do know you can return, but have to factor in international shipping

This was the one i fell in love with. Still dirty at DH. I told him it'll sell out but he INSISTED on waiting.
Thanks for the suggestions so far. I will look through them all tonight while sighing passive aggresively at DH haha Attached Files#11Posted 25 May 2018 - 06:21 PM

Have you tried eBay, I often find dresses I missed out on at ASOS on there.

Where are you OP?
I'm in Sydney and have a lovely City chic formal gown that might work #15Posted 25 May 2018 - 07:40 PM
Navabi is great in general for plus size clothing. Also igigi make dresses to your preference like eshakti

OP - you say you are a city chic size L - which according to their size chart is a 20 - ASOS is showing that they have the dress you want in a 16, 20 and 22

Wedding stores do formal dresses in plus sizes. Pricey but you would get fitting help.

Eponee that dress is gorgeous but not my style, i need it to hit the floor so I can get away with wearing confy but less cute shoes haha.
Kiwi-girl I have to size up with Asos due to fit across my butt. When I go to the page its showing as sold out for every size but 16. Marciab - the floral is so pretty but its black tie formal and I worry it might not be formal enough. And the red is hot as but i have enough experience to know its not going to work on my body. I have a long torso, short fat legs, small boobs, belly and a big butt. I think the big problem is I have put on weight and am now early stages pregnant. Its not the dresses its me lol. #21Posted 25 May 2018 - 09:10 PM
OP: Your dress is showing as available in size 16 and 20 for me. 20 is low in stock but available.

I cant believe it. It was in stock on the app. What the heck?!?!?! BUT I GOT THE DRESS.
FX it fits. Might be a tight sqeeze around the butt. And I got free express shipping. Now I just need to lay off the milky ways so I don't grow exponentially between now and then. Pregnancy hormones have me all about the sugar right now #24Posted 02 July 2018 - 03:49 PM

You wouldn't believe it.
It got delivered and it stank to high heaven of chemicals. FINALLY aired it enough to try on and it was INSANELY too big around the bust. I measured too. But obviously not well. In the end I got a dress ffrom City Chic that I had decided I hated in the hanger but it turned out to be suoer flattering and pretty (I did this for the last ball too. I should learn to listen to the assitants. Especially since i was one haha). I have decided I'm quitting Asos becayse their stuff never fits. 0 user(s) are reading this topic0 members, 0 guests, 0 anonymous users |
