Google baby led weaning. Great information about best way to serve foods for the age, developmentally. Great advice about difference between gagging and choking (gagging is a normal, biological occurrence vs choking which rarely happens if finger foods are presented to child in age appropriate, developmentally aligned way).

I am usually the most anxious mother on the planet. But for me, knowledge is calming. So I read, read, read. And with both my kids, I was confident enough to completely miss the puree stage and do baby led weaning as our way to introduce solids. Kids fed themselves until they were full, until age one breast milk was dominant nutrition, now they are older I think they eat a reasonably broad range of foods for their age.

thanks for the replies. we have been feeding our little food machine as much as he wants. But yesterday I had doubts. his belly is massive , he must be uncomfortable ... yesterday he couldn't move from his sitting position to crawling cause he couldnt get over his belly!

it reminds me of bloated or expended belly that little ones with coeliac can get (before they are diagnosed). a friend of mine has a lo with it and that what the belly reminds me of.

just seems like it will pop.... I am going to talk to a child health nurse this week.
