Fingers crossed, I can imagine the relief after hearing that DH isn’t a carrier. One less thing to worry about. I’m sure it would have been very difficult hearing the results of the miscarriage, glad it’s given you some closure although I’m sure it doesn’t make it any easier. Hope your appt with your OB went well and that your cycle gets back to normal soon for you.

CK - hope everything is on track for your procedure!

I had my 38th birthday over the weekend and was very emotional. I couldn’t stop thinking how much fertility drops after turning 38. I also have my best friend about to have her second bub which has been very hard. So happy for her but just disappointed I can’t get pregnant. Infertility sucks but really hope 2019 brings us all some more luck 🙏✨

I'm with you ladies hoping for a much better 2019 for us all.

I finally got my PGD results back this morning and found out all 3 embryos had the fragile x mutation so can't be used. Will be starting from scratch in the new year and hoping for a better outcome 🙁

Hi Joany, I understand how you feel, I have a lot of pregnant friends, colleagues etc and I am very happy for them but it does keep reminding me of how much I want to be at that stage.
I too wish for some more luck for everyone in 2019 :)

Jelly - I am so sorry to hear. That is very frustrating especially after such a long wait. I hope you have some time to relax over Christmas and prepare for the new year.

AFM - looks like I just ovulated on Day 29 so I guess my body has recovered!

Oh jelly sorry to hear it, that's not great news before Christmas.

Joany this time of year is bittersweet for me too. I am hopeful for next year but disappointed this year didn't have success

Fingers crossed good to hear your body ovulated on its own and that the recovery is progressing

No scratch or ERA for me until the new year. My lining stalled at 6.5 then shrunk to 5 earlier this week. I got AF yesterday so looks like I probably ovulated through the estrogen. My FS has advised to continue meds through and will see me next Friday. Given I started on day 5 last month on a reduced dose hopefully starting on day 1 this month with full dose + patch does the trick

CK I’m sorry to hear you weren’t able to have the procedure before Christmas. Very frustrating end to the year for you. It’s definitely bittersweet, hard to believe a year has passed and I also think it’s difficult to remain hopeful but will try.

Jelly that is really really crap luck. I’m so sorry to hear. I hope your next cycle works out much better for you.

Fingers crossed - yay to ovulating! Sounds like you’ve got a good plan of attack for next year. Where are you heading to on your holiday?

Merry Christmas lovely ladies, thank you for your support throughout the year and hope you all enjoy the Christmas break and festivities 💖

Merry Christmas ladies! 🎄

Sorry I’ve been a little quiet, work has been insane - I’m a nurse and it seems like lately everyday has been a full moon! Haha I also haven’t had much to update, but I’ve been following you all though & I’m sorry about the tough times.

I’m really hoping 2019 is a better year for us all. Positive vibes going into the new year & I look forward to sharing our journeys together. As hard as all of the IVF stuff is, it’s nice to connect with a group that truly understand, thank you.

Finger crossed, thanks so much also for your lovely comment way back when.  I absolutely try to be positive, sometimes I’m not so positive in my head hahah but I try :)

Sending lots of love to you all, try and have a great festive season! I know it seems as though everyone around us is pregnant... I certainly feel that way (I want whatever water they’re drinking!) but hopefully this time next year we all have our very own little people to celebrate Christmas with ❤️ xx.

Bring on January and IVF cycle #2 ☺️ !!

Merry Christmas beautiful ladies. I hope you've all had/are having some time to rest and enjoy yourselves.

Jelly I'm so sorry to hear your results, and that you had to wait so long for answers. I hope you are having a good break and doing things to nurture yourself xx and I'm glad to hear you will be starting again soon. xxx

Joany, Happy Birthday :) I'm sorry it was a sad time, I know how that can feel, I am 43 and can't believe that happened. I wasn't ready to start trying ivf until this year and do wish I'd started earlier but here I am. I searched a while ago 'falling pregnant over 40' and came across a really long thread somewhere that went for years with so many women posting their stories of falling naturally and with ivf, even up until 48 or so, so that gave me a lot of hope. The specialists give us all the low % trying to  prepare us for the worst, they might call it denial but I block all that out. It totally happens and it can totally happen for us. I hope your session with the psychologist went well and you're feeling a bit clearer xxx

Ck, I'm sorry the second opinion FS was not supportive or encouraging. I remember you saw a female FS who I think you liked but she didn't have a donor program yet, would it be an option to see her for her opinion/advice even if you cant follow through with her?  In saying that, hopefully your frostie is the one anyway :) Your protocols always sound different from the norm, probably thanks to your thorough research. I hope this cycle does what it is supposed to. xxx

Fingerscrossed I'm sorry to hear the results of the MC but like you said it would be helpful for closure to know that there was a reason xx It sounds like you're on a good path moving forward, being healthy and planning for your next cycle in May. xxx

MsHopeful I hope you are feeling great, healthy and more confident as time goes by :) xxx

Maufie, same to you re your little bean :) I am sorry nobody picked up your TSH results from so long ago, that's really disappointing. At least you know now, hopefully the meds help you feel better and support you over the next few months xxx

Mella sounds like you are in a good head space and I agree, lets have a super positive 2019 :) xx

Nepo that is so great you have so many good embies. I hope you are feeling well, thinking of you during the wait xxx

Aardvark and Theia I hope you are both well and enjoying some rest time over Christmas xx

AFM I started the pill again a week or so ago, so I feel like I am doing something toward the next cycle. I'm still waiting for the melatonin to come (from the U.S.) but have my appointment/med schedule (first jab 3 Feb, EPU 6 March) and have booked all my flights and accommodation. I'm excited to get going again and I'm sure the time will go quickly.

Lots of love and positive vibes to everyone. Take care of yourselves :) xxx

Thanks so much for the kind wishes for all of us Mara! I hope everyone has had a very relaxing Christmas break- I know I’m in no hurry to go to work again on Wednesday but don’t have much choice ;)

I think my thyroid medication is indeed making me feel a bit better- I do encourage everyone to make sure they get checked for thyroid function on this journey.

I can’t wait to hear many positive stories and happy beginnings on this thread in 2019. Sending hugs xox

Hey Maufie, hope everything is going well for you :)

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and NYE.

I got AF just in time for our 2 days away up the coast, what great timing. Anyway its a new cycle and I'm back on letrozole so hopefully things will be back to normal.

Back at work after Xmas break and very busy so lots to keep me occupied.

We are going to Canada & the US on Australia day, another nice distraction.

Wishing best of luck to those of you about to start new cycles.

Hi ladies
I just wanted to join here , tomorrow is the  start of my first IVF cycle 😬. We have unexplained recurrent miscarriage so we are doing ivf and PGS , and my AMH is low for my age , I think it was 9 and I’m 37
The plan is do a collection this cycle and while we wait for the pgs results have a uterine biopsy on feb and then if we are lucky enough to have a normal embryo we will do a FET in March
Cause I have migraines I can’t take the pill so I have been jabbing myself for the past 2 weeks with decepeptly and then will add in Gonal F on Wednesday I think
I’m a bit nervous but hopeful
Let 2019 be a good year for all of us!!!

Hi @Benny81, welcome to our little group. It has been a bit quiet here of xmas as most clinics close but assume it will liven up as more of us get back into cycles

hopefully IVF gives you some answers to keep a sticky pregnancy and this is a short stay for you. the gonal jabs are easy and sounds like you must be used to injecting anyway

@fingerscrossed your trip away sounds lovely and a great distraction. not long to go now. hoping the letrozole is also doing its thing

@mara - hope the pill isn;t giving you too much drama this time around and that you enjoyed your break

I hope the rest of you had a nice and relaxing holiday period and here's hoping 2019 brings lots of good news for us all

AFM still on track for an ERA test and scratch this month

Welcome Benny. This is a good group for support and advice but hopefully you won't need to be here long and your current cycle does the trick.

I won't be that far behind you on my second cycle. I have my blood test Wednesday and start shots on Sunday if all is good. Here we go again!

#38 benny81

Posted 08 January 2019 - 02:18 PM

Ckmelb - is the era test a biopsy?

Jelly - we will only be a couple of days apart, I had my bloods done this morning and just got the call to start gonal F tomorrow night

Hi ladies & welcome Benny :)

Hope everyone is doing well. Good luck to those starting new cycles, fingers crossed for a great cycle and great start 2019!

AFM: hopefully starting 2nd round of IVF (this time with ICSI)  mid/end of January :) Really hoping this DHEA has helped :)

xx

hi benny, yes that's right it's a biopsy (fun times). It's done on mock transfer day, so 5 dpo or in my case 5 days past progesterone as per a FET

#41 benny81

Posted 08 January 2019 - 09:21 PM

CKMelb  that doesn’t sound like fun, I’m having a biopsy in feb if we have a normal embryo but I’m more anxious about that than the whole egg collection business

#42 ckmelb

Posted 09 January 2019 - 07:39 AM

Benny me too! But will let you know how it goes

Jelly all the best for your new cycle

Mella - hope dhea has done the trick for you

#43 ckmelb

Posted 10 January 2019 - 02:40 PM

So I did something silly today. I swallowed my utrotestan pessary. Oops! I was distracted and had 3 pills in my hand and needed to swallow 2 then go insert the progesterone. I swallowed the wrong one! The pharmacist thinks I might just have a sore tummy and be a bit dizzy later. So silly. I have inserted a replacement one so at least i had an extra

Hope everyone else is having a better day!

omg CK that made me laugh out loud! I hope you dont feel too bad !

#45 Jelly11

Posted 10 January 2019 - 03:36 PM

Oh no ck! Sounds like something I would do without thinking. I bet you had a panic afterward. I hope it doesn't upset your system too much and everything else goes smoothly for you.

#46 ckmelb

Posted 10 January 2019 - 09:07 PM

Yes I thought this might make a few of you giggle! The pharmacist was really good and called me back again after speaking to the manufacturer and said I would likely be super tired and dizzy. So I went home from work a bit early and did indeed have a nap. I slept pretty soundly and woke up at 6pm feeling pretty good so seems it's ok now. I had friends over for dinner after that and they had a good laugh at me also

#47 Mara6

Posted 11 January 2019 - 02:54 PM

Oh no CK! I almost swallowed a tablet meant for my dog a couple of months ago, so you're definitely not the only one! Glad you had another and the side effects weren't bad. An unscheduled nap is always a good thing.
Good luck for the era and scratch, sounds horrible (surely they could call it something other than scratch) but hopefully it is no worse than all the rest of it.
Thanks, this pill (evelyn) is far less crazy making than the original, standard one, thank goodness.

Hi Jelly, that's great to hear you're starting again so soon. I hope all went well re testing on Wed and you're good to go with shots on Sunday. xx

Welcome Benny. It sounds like you have a good plan and there will be lots of support in here for you. I hope your first shots went ok and you're feeling good moving forward. xx

Hi Fingerscrossed, it sounds like you've been having a good break, it will be great to go overseas and get away from it all for a bit.  I'm glad things are getting back to normal and you're getting ready for the next steps. xxx

Hi Mella! Glad to hear you are doing well and yes, fingers crossed the DHEA is working it's magic. You'll be starting again in no time. xx

How are you doing Joany? xx

MsHopeful and Maufie I hope things are progressing well and you are both feeling wonderful xxx

Happy 2019 everyone.

Thanks Mara. Bloods were all good so start on Sunday. Picked up my meds today and have gonal f instead of bemfola this time so will have to get used to the multiple dose pens rather than just using a whole pen each day like I did for bemfola. Not sure why each pen comes with so many needles. Seems like a lot of waste!

Happy new year everyone!  Hope you were all able to enjoy the festive period.  I certainly overindulged but back being healthy now…

CK – I can completely understand how you did this.  Glad to hear you didn’t get an upset tummy or anything though.

Mella – hope DHEA helps you and you haven’t had too many negative side effects

Benny – so sorry to hear about your miscarriages, that must be really tough but sounds like you have a good plan for this round of IVF and hope it all tracks well for you.

Fingers crossed –  ohhh your trip is so close!  How fun!  Happy to hear your cycle started again but bummer about the timing, hope you had a nice weekend away though.

Mara – that’s exciting you’ve got everything booked for your cycle, I think the time will go super fast.

Jelly - that's exciting you've got the go ahead to start and I agree with you about the needles.  I have so many left over from all of my cycles last year and I always forget to take them in when I see the nurses but may have to make a special trip so they can dispose of them.

AFM – apt for FS isn’t till mid-Feb and planning to do a cycle maybe in April, DH owns his own business and it’s been a bit stressful so really want things to settle down before we add the stress of IVF to the mix.  I have a question for anyone doing acupuncture….When you’re in between cycles do you still go weekly?  I saw a new acupuncturist during the week and I think she’ll want to see me weekly but just don’t have the $$ to do 3 months of it before we start next cycle….

#50 FingersCrossed123

Posted 11 January 2019 - 10:18 PM

Joany - I'm going to acupuncture fortnightly at the moment.

I initially went weekly initially and then moved to fortnightly after about a month. It seems like part of the treatment and once they get things going properly you can go less often.

The first acupuncturist I had I didn't really connect with and I switched to another acupuncturist at the same practice. So I would recommend trying to find someone you feel comfortable talking to about what is going on. It helps with the treatment if you can open up. I think it's a bit of mix of therapy, dietician and acupuncture really!

When I did IVF I went weekly during stimulation, a couple of days before EPU, and a couple of days after EPU. And then weekly during the wait

I lf you find it relaxing and connect with the practitioner I would recommend going fortnightly leading up to your next cycle :)
