I've just got home from 11 days in Sydney, exhibiting my dogs at the Sydney Royal Easter show and a couple of breed specialty shows. And look who hitched a ride back with me!

Meet Rush. He's a very special little dude, he's the product of frozen semen from a stud dog who died about 4 years ago. It never ceases to amaze me that science can actually do this.
He is a half brother to my boy Cash (same sire) and he's going to be my new show dog.

Omg he's gorgeous! That's the kind of man I would let in my life (apologies to my 14 year old dog, you're still my number 1 man!)

He is cute. I just showed the photo to DD14 and she said “He’s an Australian Shepherd isn’t he?”

What a cutie! My neighbours recently got an Australian Shepherd puppy, and luckily they are very happy for us to wander down to their backyard to cuddle the puppy 🥰.

Yes he is, and a very, very nice one. Rush's father and grandmother were among the biggest winning show dogs in the country. He has big shoes to fill.

A lot of people don't know about them. They are actually an American breed and have only been in Australia since the mid 1990's.

I have had a few people tell me recently they are the most beautiful dogs they have ever seen.

They're right. Simply stunning. How come is has the Aussie name then?

They were originally used to herd Merino sheep that had been imported from Australia to the US. From there they were developed as a versatile stock dog, mainly for cows, but they still kept the original name. Which is very confusing.

God no. He's from China, came over here about 18 months ago and he goes back next month. We stood next to him in the breed judging. He's a very nice dog, won a lot while here. Interesting though, that two days later we had our breed specialty show (over 100 Aussies) and he didn't even win his class.
